This is where it reaches too much in my opinion. I love this program and loved this team (it's no longer a part of that program fwiw; was a different location than Gold), and their music mix was one of my favorites all season. So I'm not trying to throw shade. But that business around 2:18 is a no. And their entire dance...

That dance..oh my. Oh no.
Also that fall at the end of the pyramid could have been pretty scary

And she is a beautiful flyer with great skills who doesn't have to do all of that to get attention. As long as videos like that keep going viral and getting praised teams will mimic it and the trend will continue.
And the public will despise us more and more. Like I said, we can't put stuff like this on the floor and then complain about the sexualized perception of cheer.

I don't see it?

I really didn't find that to be that bad. There are a lot of much more excessive ones like JungleCats at their first competition(it was toned down after that), royalty last year, etc.

Hers looked more awkward to me than overly sexual.
I posted it because it was more to the point of 'There were plenty of perfectly acceptable things you were doing, and then you threw it all out the window for that one.' It was a 'I'm not feeling it but I don't know what else to do here so since everyone else does this I'll do it too.'

And let's be real- bad or not bad, if that move was banned from center preps period we'd thank you from the bottom of our hearts :D

When the blonde girl does the body roll thing in the front. I mean, so there was so much opportunity for something cute/sassy right there, but she does that. And in the dance I was just referring to, well, everything.

They ALL do the body roll but the girl in the front put too much body in it, the others rolled and shook and kept moving.

The craze of being center of stunts, jumps, dance people feel like there's more to that role than having solid skills, you need some showmanship. But you don't have to do that...You can just do a fierce head nod or actually hit your motions with some power. I can always tell who naturally has an extra 'something' in a routine and who is just doing it for attention.

There's nothing wrong with giving some motions to your middle prep flyer during pyramid dead counts or to cover up a quick transition. But I don't get the trend of hair fluff/body roll/thigh rub? Literally you're all doing the same thing. It's not original.

This particular motion is not sexual, but MUST the center prep girl (after fluffing hair and everything else) make the "make it rain" hand motions across the front?

Tell me someone knows what I am talking about.

It's similar to what the "make it rain" emoji is doing.

Yep. One hand flat the other hand brushing it off like she's throwin stacks. It's literally the same four motions in rotation from middle prep flyers, blah. I'd rather see ya'll stand and smile or do a dang show n go or something.

Eh, it doesn't bother me that much but CP hasn't tried imitating it so maybe I'd care more then? Though I will say, most of it is more sassy/fierce to me than sexy or taking to be sexy.

Perfect example of a lovely center prep gone wrong. Everything cute fine and sassy until 1:51. Just why.

Interesting enough, I feel like you don't notice it/see it much on large teams (and maybe even medium) until the dance (if you see it at all). You tend to notice it more in small where you need to choreograph enough so the center looks interesting, but not SO much that you tire them out. Large teams have enough going on where you don't run the risk of dead time in center.

I feel like things wouldn't get so out of hand if we actually enforced the rules that are already in the rule book (even if it just starts with warnings). Same goes with unis- cover up rules might not be needed so much if we START with unis that don't look like scraps of fabric held together by ribbons.

I dont find anything wrong with what she did here.
