The girls have a white metallic sports bra under the tops. This girl just wasn't wearing hers. But it fills in the gap similar to what hers is now, bra brigade be assured we have our ladies assets covered & supported!

I remember seeing the designs a few months ago. Looks great for a level 6 team!

I really wasn't doubting her (although I see it looked like it) when she said they're allowed. I just thought I read that they weren't allowed - only signs. I see them all the time and always wonder why. Is it high school cheer that they're not allowed? (SN it's not like this is the first time I've ever questioned it, but it is the first time I've ever gotten an answer. I've asked about 5 times on other teams. I guess if you want an answer to something, attach Teal to it. You'll get an explanation QUICK)

Either way, I'm sure they score well. Most things cea does score well. Me not "getting" something has nothing to do with how it scores though. Even if they win every competition they ever enter, I still won't see the correlation between sashes and calendars.

@12stepCheermom HOW have I not known about the Wizard of Oz theme? That's my favorite movie of all time. LOVE it and I imagine it would be easy to "get."
That's a great mix too, JR is really talented. Small juniors don't have any uniform stuff going on that I remember, it's just their mix but it's wizard of oz from start to finish. It's on JRs soundcloud.:)

You asked a question I happened to know the answer to so I answered it. I would've done the same thing if my kids' team was hot pink and zebra.

For the record I've never understood how a sash goes with a calendar theme either unless Ms. March wears a sash in the calendar. I've never even looked at a calendar like that so I have no idea.

I don't even know if this is new or not but came across this on tumblr...
Even the skirt looks kind of like CEA's old X man unis !

I think I saw them at Elite Beach Cup near Berlin/Germany in December and I couldn't get over the fact that they copied the uniform of a top team and the name of another top team (that also happens to be in the same division). No. Just no!

or wait, I might confusing them with this team (but I definitely saw the above mentioned uniform at that competition):

But you wouldn't have been cheering at that hypothetical gym, because they make obvious poor choices. ;)

Love the extra hand in the pic! Classic. :p

How is that not a prop?

The way they explained it in the beginning of the season was a pageant thing. Like "Miss January" (which makes absolutely zero sense, because pageants don't name a "Miss <month>", men's magazines do... but whatever). I completely don't get it, but I guess I'm alone in that. A calendar makes more sense than a pageant, but I still don't get it - and I don't get why it's not considered a prop.

Is this the same team with the different colored crowns on their bows? I can't remember.

You are not alone. I don´t get it. And i love themes. If i don´t have a theme for my teams, i totally lost when we need new music.
But this calendar girl theme is not for me. Maybe because of the men´s magazine thing, but little do i know ;)
I love the princess theme with the crown-bows.

There is a team in europe with a uniform - let´s say very similar to a CEA uniform. With the x-men. And you can tell me all you want, if you cheer and design a uniform for your team, someone has to know CEA and the uniform. So i think (don´t know for sure) it´s not a "hoppla" mistake.

Personally, I just assumed it was an easy way to correlate 'Queen City' (which made me think of a pageant queen and they mention about 10 times in the music) and something you can put 'Miss' in front of that would make sense. A hybrid pageant queen referencing months of the year. Made sense in my crazy little brain (especially listening to the music about 80 times). Because even now, listening back through CA/CEA music from all the teams, I'm INCREDIBLY impressed at the references I've missed. (Like 'You want a battle? Welcome to the Jaguar.')

Here you go!

9. Flags, banners, signs, pom pons, megaphones and pieces of cloth are the only props allowed. Props with
poles or similar support apparatus may not be used in conjunction with any kind of stunt or tumbling. All
props must be safely discarded out of harm’s way (example: throwing a hard sign across the mat from a
stunt would be illegal). Any uniform piece purposefully removed from the body and used for visual effect will
be considered a prop once it is removed from the body

One of the girls on our team pulls a card out of her sleeve at the end of our dance ("Have an ace up your sleeve")

Eh, I still don't really see how pageant queens relate to calendar girls. Calendar girls just make me think of Playboy lol and I don't see how the Queen City part relates all that much to pageants. But that's just me and I guess it only really matters if the team is having fun and if they like it!

On the topic of props though, I loved when TG IOC5 used ribbons in their dance in 2012.

My CP13 is not a "sash girl" as we call them but my god daughter is and I'm ridiculously amazed that child can hit a tick tock while pulling that sash out simultaneously.

I was really impressed with this girl too. "Yes, a tick tock's easy enough to adjust my clothing at the same time"... :D

I have mixed feelings about the sashes (I don't care that much, the kids seem happy about it and that's what counts in the end). On the one hand, it helped me actually get the exact month switches in the music (some were obvious but I admit I wasn't sure for some others), and it must also help people who don't know they have a theme to actually follow it, otherwise some would probably realize around the middle of the routine or at the end instead of enjoying the them through the entire routine. On the other hand, I find it distracting from the skills being performed when I feel that uniforms/props/accessories/etc should be specifically designed to highlight skills. Besides, the only video I've seen where you can actually see the sashes/bows is a JTV one with close ups. How well does the crowd actually see them at comps ?
