FWIW re: glitz, makeup, glamour, etc.

In high school, I was on the ice hockey, cheerleading (football, fall season that doesn't compete in Maine), debate, and math teams.

I wore the same amount of makeup for each activity's "game days." Sometimes I wore a small ribbon under my hockey helmet.

Was hockey less of a sport because I was wearing eyeliner, blush, etc? No. It made me feel better and more confident, and as long as I was skating hard, playing my best, and getting shots on goal, nobody said anything. (Also, if you look at the shots from the bench from the OLYMPIC women's ice hockey competition a large chunk of team Canada is wearing at least eyeliner.)

OMG that uniform is flawless :cloud9:

Nice to see a small MA gym team uniform featured on this :)

All I have to say is live, and let live. If I want to spray tan, and look like a cheeto, I should be able too. If I want to have a huge poof, where when I am basing it touches my flyers butt, I should be able too.

IMO the different between Cheer and Soccer of Hockey, is that cheer is a performance sport. So your appearance should be a factor.

i know you probably won't be sharing until NCA, but please tell me both pant legs are the same color?! as long as they are, i think i'll be happy lol
I have not one single clue but that is my ONLY hope as well. It's the reason I didn't mind buying my fourth uniform this season, the current pants drive my OCD nuts :)

And you're right, these are under lock and key until they hit the floor. I'm not even sure if that will be Saturday or Sunday at this point but both uniforms are on the packing list. The coed bow to go with the new uniforms hit Instagram this morning. I like them. The girls asked for the CO ED to be like that on the bow and I'm glad they got to give their input :)

the only thing i dont like is the teasing hair craze. a little teasing is fine, but some of the girls with very long hair are basically teasing their entire head....i cringe at the fact that they are slowly destroying their hair by doing that.
Exactly. Mine has been growing her hair out to donate for 3 years (since Grandma was diagnosed with cancer). We even use special shampoo and hair ties to minimize breakage. Her stylist told her Locks of Love will not take damaged hair so she will not tease it to a rats nest state for the sake of whomever could benefit from her donation. Unfortunately, it was addressed multiple times that she must curl and tease for competition. Why? Did it make her less appealing to the judges? She chose to donate over teasing and I totally agree.
If the masses want to damage their hair by teasing, spraying, coloring I have no problem. That is their hair and their look - feel free to do it as they wish. But please don't try to bully my kid into doing it and negate years of care to donate to a cause close to her.

I don't mine the makeup - I'm sure a lot of the A&T girls wear makeup at their meets. I don't even mind the bows. But I think that super heavy painted on makeup and huge hair makes us look like dolls, not athletes.

Figure skaters do their hair and makeup - I get the point of stage makeup - but it's not overdone or ridiculous the way it is in cheerleading.
