I agree with your entire first paragraph.

And your second, except I have a reason - my husband used to sing Coldplay songs to my children as he put them to bed at night (bedtime has always been his responsibility). They were the first songs my kids sang, even before things like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I hear Coldplay and am immediately transported back to when my kids were babies.

I think Coldplay makes me nostalgic because their music has such a "feel good" vibe and it triggers all the feel good memories :shaka:

For all the millions spent on commercials it will not make me buy their product! Waste of $ if u ask me.

I have a question thought I'd ask it here since this is the random thread, no need to start a new thread over it..

How is USASF able to run as a non-profit organization with as much money as they make?

I work for a nonprofit that also makes money. Nonprofit does not mean you can't make money, but it is not supposed to be your main purpose.

In my very basic understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the nonprofit status comes from what you do with that money. A for profit company gives money to its shareholders/owners when there's a profit. A nonprofit doesn't give money to shareholders (don't think they have them) but is supposed to use any profit it makes to further its mission or purpose.

If the NFL was able to legally run as a non-profit for as many years as it did (it is no longer non-profit, as it recently voluntarily gave up that status), I'm pretty sure USASF is fine, as long as they are following the laws, which, in my non-lawyerly opinion, it appears they are.

Ok so I want to buy a Mac but I'm not sure which is better. I'm looking at the 13" MacBook Air and the 13" MacBook Pro. I've had my current laptop for four years and haven't used the disc drive in the last two so that isn't an issue for me. However, I'll hopefully be attending grad school in the fall so I need something that's going to hold up well for the next 5-6 years. Any suggestions?

I've never heard "Macbook" and "holds up for 5-6 years" said in the same sentence :p I'm sure it's happened but I don't think the majority of them hold up that long unless you're crazy careful or use it lightly. I feel like in a 5-6 year period something is bound to break and you can't really open macs up too easily to fix things.

Do you already have a mac computer now? Do you know if you will have to be using any specific programs in grad school that are supported on the Mac's OS?

I have a Mac desktop that I love and a Sony laptop that I loathe haha. I don't believe I'll need anything Mac specific but the grad program I will most likely be attending uses iPads and I want something that will be compatible with that since I'm stupid with technology. I much prefer how my desktop works as compared to how my laptop works.

I will be the first to tell you that I am very anti-apple (which is weird since I'm typing this from a Mac and they are my industry's standard) but I do acknowledge that they are great for people who are not good with technology. I'd buy my mom one tbh if I had the money because she is computer illiterate.

Although I can't offer you any first hand advice on what my experiences are with either models, If I were you, I would go with the Pro. If it were to last you 5-6 whole years, the specs on those seem more advanced. It seems like it has a beter processor, more memory, better/more advanced everything except the wireless web time for the battery. (It even has an HDMI which is a HUGE plus. You don't have to worry about an adapter.) The Air seems functional now but it's already been one upped by the Pro. By the time 5-6 years roll around it will probably be very obsolete. In the long term, if you can afford it, I think the Pro is the better investment :)

Thank you so much! My dad is a computer programmer and hates Apple also but I love their products simply because they seem to be pretty user friendly, especially for people like me (and your mom) [emoji28]

I'm in the same boat (well, minus the grad school part!). The battery on my Macbook is on its last legs, and apple doesn't sell replacements any more. My current one is a late 2008 model, and I got it in 2009. The battery is the first thing to go on it, so it's held up pretty well.
If you need to save money, look at the refurbished section on the apple website. On the Canadian one it's mostly Airs with a few Pros, usually with a 15% discount.

Great idea! I'll have to check that out! Thanks!!
