So uh, not sure if anyone's seen the news but we had a special visitor at my job today. I work at a high school in New Hampshire where primary voting was going on and this was our special friend who strolled in to cast his vote (while disrupting all my classes and attacking some cops)

#pelhampig was soon trending on Twitter and now it's made the national and local news. Gotta love NH!

OMG! I'm so jealous :D I read the article about the pig on Boston.com and watched the videos of the pig about 10 times - so entertaining!

Mainly I'm distracted by the fact that the snow and the ice on the ground are exactly what I need here in SC to keep me out of work for like 3 days.

But y'all are out going to school and voting and living life and what not [emoji53]

Lol I had to snowblow my driveway this morning and my road wasn't plowed from last nights snow but we still had school, and no delay. You learn to adapt.

But I hate snow and I would gladly share some of ours with you.

And @BHSVCGirl (on my phone, idk if that worked), it kept us entertained for about an hour I'd say before the owner came, roped it up and literally walked it home on its leashrope. Getting my kids to focus on schoolwork after that was quite the struggle.

But the world looked so quiet and peaceful on Friday...

How could anyone be mad when you get to live out your dreams of spending the day in Narnia? Cmon parents[emoji14]
I'll let you know tomorrow morning when everyone is predicting a 2 hour delay. My kids also had off Friday and Monday but we at least got 10" on Friday.

My first thought upon seeing this: "I wonder how much bacon he'd make."

I will be the first to tell you that I am very anti-apple (which is weird since I'm typing this from a Mac and they are my industry's standard) but I do acknowledge that they are great for people who are not good with technology. I'd buy my mom one tbh if I had the money because she is computer illiterate.

Although I can't offer you any first hand advice on what my experiences are with either models, If I were you, I would go with the Pro. If it were to last you 5-6 whole years, the specs on those seem more advanced. It seems like it has a beter processor, more memory, better/more advanced everything except the wireless web time for the battery. (It even has an HDMI which is a HUGE plus. You don't have to worry about an adapter.) The Air seems functional now but it's already been one upped by the Pro. By the time 5-6 years roll around it will probably be very obsolete. In the long term, if you can afford it, I think the Pro is the better investment :)
What computer would you recommend? I was hoping to buy myself a Mac as a graduation gift to myself but they just cost so much. I currently have a Dell which I like, but the fan just runs so high all time and it bothers me.

For design stuff? I'd recommend the two laptops I've had but they have discontinued the models... figures lol. The first was a Samsung (actually that was the gaming computer, I always mix them up but it was a powerhouse) and my second is an Asus. I love my Asus one - I think it cost around $750 after tax but I know there was a sale running when I got it. It starts up really fast, faster than my Samsung did and there are times where I leave InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver open at once for days and I can still stream Netflix without a hitch.

I have zero experience with Chrome OS computers but I've heard Adobe programs have issues with them. Creative Cloud runs perfectly on Windows though :)

I can't name any models off the tops of my head specifically but I know that Asus, Lenovo, and Acer seem to be trusted brands. I don't think you want to go below an i5 processor, i7 is nice if you can afford it. For Ghz, unless you're doing lots of crazy photo editing or video editing, I don't think you need anything higher than 2.5. They say 16gb of RAM is optimal but my computer has 8 and it's fine. There is a guy on YouTube, Roberto Blake (that's his username), who does a lot of videos for graphic designers and he's done a handful of videos about computer specs for designers and they are very insightful! I'd totally recommend check his laptop videos out :) His mini Mac rant in his budget friendly laptop video cracks me up.

Ahhh thank you! Kind of sad that I didn't get an Asus when my dad told me to before college now hahah. I have InDesign and Photoshop running right now on my Dell and it sounds like it's gonna explode. Yikes.

I'll definitely have to check those videos out!

ok so i did not watch the super bowl at all, someone fill me in as to why people are hating beyonce and her performance.
Because it was about telling Black people not to be ashamed of themselves, being proud of who you are. etc but I don't see what's the be stink about it either because Cold Play was about LBGT rights I don't see how Beyonce's performance was any more political then Cold Play's LBGT rights theme. I loved them both. The entire half time show was about politics and respecting people and their rights and Beyonce just decided to hers on black people. Which makes sense because it is Black history month. I don't see the big stink about it. I honestly don't.

If the NFL was able to legally run as a non-profit for as many years as it did (it is no longer non-profit, as it recently voluntarily gave up that status), I'm pretty sure USASF is fine, as long as they are following the laws, which, in my non-lawyerly opinion, it appears they are.
I work for a nonprofit that also makes money. Nonprofit does not mean you can't make money, but it is not supposed to be your main purpose.

In my very basic understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the nonprofit status comes from what you do with that money. A for profit company gives money to its shareholders/owners when there's a profit. A nonprofit doesn't give money to shareholders (don't think they have them) but is supposed to use any profit it makes to further its mission or purpose.

Thank you ladies. I was just asking because I'm not quite educated on non-profit my self, but I was under the impression that non-profit means you're a charitable organization, and I'm not all that familiar with what USASF does after they get the money (other then to pay bills) so that's why it crossed my mind as to how they qualified for it.

Anytime a minority/the oppressed wants to embrace their "power" and empower the others in their group, the majority/the oppressors want to stop it or take it away. It's not just an issue within the black community. It happens in the feminist movement, the gay rights movement, any minority race or religion, and in many other groups. But Beyonce put it front and center on national tv at the biggest US sports event of the year and she was arguably the most iconic/influential person at that game. Thats why it's getting massive amounts of attention and backlash.

ETA: I don't always love her music but I love her metaphorical male gonads.

I know its not just about the black race, but that seemed to be her theme for this song. But nonetheless, it does happen to everyone, but its funny how it only happened to Beyonce this time and no one made a big stink about Cold Play's LBGT rights theme, but when gay marriage was legal in all states people were on a social media riot. Think its sad that people put down minority races for any reason, and I really hate it even more when minority races put down their own people. I've seen some of the comments on Facebook its horrible. 2015 seemed to be the year that racist came out closet, hope its not as bad this year. Ugh

Did you ever thoroughly clean your laptop (especially on the inside)? It definitely helped with my old laptop to quiet the fan down quite a bit.

I will agree there is almost nothing prettier than nature after a fresh snowfall, but by Friday night it was a muddy, slushy mess :p . And have you seen the weather forecast for this weekend?? High of 8 with windchill of -30???!!!
