Basket Tosses - Let's Talk About Drills

Try having the bases only dip down and not do the actual basket.
So let's say they set on 1, the flyer will be in position by 3 or 4, on 5,6 the bases dip, right? And on 7 they are supposed to throw the basket. Have them only do the dip and not the actual throw, so stop on 6. This practices timing in a gr8 way! Usually what causes basket trouble is bad timing in bases or flyers being unclean in the air.

An add- on for the previous drill is to have the bases jump on seven, the flyer stays in their hands but the bases jump up and straighten their legs on 7 instead of trowing with their arms!

Try to film the baskets in slow motion to see if the bases are timed and if they are throwing elbows first!

Tell the flyer to push off the bases shoulders to get more height.

I agree with @King. There is a basket class in there that Spring Tumbling gave last year and was amazing.
 
Im a backspot and typically when my stunt group was practicing basket tosses we gave our flyer great height, great power, etc. BUT when she came down it seems that all of our skin kept rubbing together about half of the times we practiced it. When it rubbed it would burn a little, are we doing something wrong or does that just happen?
 
I can't really speak for a Flyer, I mean the only times I've ever flown were a few misguided misadventures involving four 6'5 competitive adult hockey players, and being generally stupid ( but that's a story for another day).

These were things I learned doing Seventh Day Adventist styled acrosport. Baskets are the same, just called Pitching.

Trophies, load the flyer do the motion of a basket but only go up to block while quickly bringing it down. A lot like a show. This'll help the flyers to build a muscle memory for the peak of their bases toss before they leave their bases hands. This also drills the motion for the bases.

Then you could have them toss their baskets, while having the bases focus on jumping throw their toss. You can also have them focus on flicking their fingers at the end. The little extra jump and finger flick on the toss adds height.

One thing if one of your bases is a bit taller than the next. Have them and short person drill their toss motion and learn when the shorter bases reach is done and train them to let go so the taller bass can add a little more height to the based by continuing their full range of toss motion.

I also recommend trying a reverse grip ( left hand grabs right wrist, and bases right hands grab each other's left arms). It's more an It's not the normal grip, but I have done both and right this method ^^ is more efficient for a toss. I would test it out on some older senior 5 kids first.
