NCA was $167 per athlete for 2016... so $167 x ~30 girls on the team = $5010 (+$89 a coach) divided by the 180 seconds they perform = $27 a second to perform at NCA. When you compare time on the floor, being judged, cheer is outrageous.

(For comparison, 6 dancers @ $40 each for a 2 minute dance = $2 a second.) While neither are cheap activities, I'd still call dance a better deal.
[emoji15][emoji87] $27 per second... Yikes

Actually at 2:30 per routine x 2 (300 seconds) it is $16.70/ per second since it is a 2-day comp. Total bargain lmao! Oh but wait... what about airfare, inflated STP lodging, admission for parents and of course... the special nca tshirt and bow your gym had you buy for the comp. Add that in and divide ...

True! Forgot to factor in 2-day performances. Sorry y'all! lol

Sorry if it's been discussed. This was My reality this morning. I just can't believe they think that the kids running the booth can possibly distribute 1000s of tickets in any kind of timely manner. They were doing the best they could but come on... It's not realistic. We have a little thing called email and even heaven forbid snail mail that could have gotten this info to parents way ahead of time. Please Varsity? For next year?

I asked my friend that works for Disney about this- it is actually a disney thing, not a varsity thing to wait on the tickets. There are too many people who would say that their tickets 'never arrived' and need new ones just to get something free. So disney doesn't even give varsity the tickets until a few days before the competition.

Now- I agree 2-hours is ridiculous . We waited to buy tickets until we got there and walked right in, bought tickets and walked out in 2-minutes. Going with that plan for next year too.

I don't understand. There is always a paper trail with online purchases. If you can't produce a receipt (mine was emailed to me), you didn't purchase it. No one should be able to show up and say they just never received the tickets in the mail (I understand this might happen but they should have a receipt or someway to track it if it did) and legit expect to get in for free without a receipt. After the ticket purchase, An email with the ticket/pass number on it could easily be sent if they didn't want to deal with sending the tickets regular mail.

I'm just hoping they can work something out for next year. It seems a very broken system. I felt really bad for the kids working the ticket pick up booth.

All Star resort sold them too, quick and easy!

I think the issue is that we are buying a product from a 3rd party. If you buy directly from Disney- no problem with getting the ticket number. But varsity doesn't give Disney the number of passes until the end of the order window. So Disney just gets an order for 10,371 tickets for Varsity, hands them a box of tickets and leaves it to varsity to deal with. And the turn around window isn't really long enough for varsity to record every ticket number for each order & get them mailed before people leave for Florida.

Don't know that there is an easy way for people not on the Varsity travel plan- but some part of me thinks they make it a little bit harder on the 'commuters' so we will consider buying their travel plan. JMO.
