My friend just shared this info they got from their gym about their new uniforms that they have not seen or received (she says they get them in a few weeks):
"A bra cannot be worn with uniforms, except for tape in the front. They are fully blinded out and should provide enough coverage on the chest. They are all one piece, full tops with a boy short bottom. Mini and youth teams will have boy shorts to wear on top, and junior and senior teams will have skirts."

I usually just enjoy the uniforms posted in this thread, but this info from a gym owner made me take pause. Is coverage really what is necessary? One would think support would be the biggest concern.

This is unacceptable. My kid would be wearing a bra. Period.

Why would a coach/gym pick a uniform that they know a bra cannot be worn? Complete disrespect for some of their athletes!

Key words- "Should" and "Enough." Even though they should, there is a possibility that they won't have support. And enough? Enough support for what? A cups? B cups? Good for cartwheels but not for tucks? Okay for walking, but what about jumping?

Key word also being "coverage" not even support. ://///

Let me guess, that email was written by a male  This is when I hope some parents aren't afraid of Suzie being moved to the back left corner for speaking their mind, putting their foot down and saying no. It's not acceptable.

Like imagine your daughter's softball/basketball/soccer/gymnastics coach sending out a mass e-mail, like sorry, we've decided to forgo bras this year. Imagine the local news getting ahold of that.

Sometime I hate this sport. Now is one of those times.

That's a nice comparison. It's just a reminder how there is a stark contradiction between the athleticism of the sport and the appearance/fashion faction.

Also, imagine if boy's coaches told them they couldn't wear cups because it made their uniform look weird. I'm sure parents would object to this.

I guess they just go topless, this wouldn't even be an issue. (HUUUUUUUGE eye roll)

So many thoughts...who designs a uniform (and a gym uniform at that) that can't have a bra AT ALL? Who in their right mind suggests TAPE for a sport? The "should provide enough coverage" is terrifying. I'm seriously afraid of what this uniform will look like, and would absolutely love to know who this gym is.

It's going to be an entertaining day when this uniform is posted here.

So glad I've switched to college cheer now as I'll never have to see the day where I deal with this problem. Although this is just the epitome of bad choices where the industry is concerned. Poor poor children that have to deal with one gym owner's stupidity in the name of looking "fashionable".
