I've washed my daughters' numerous times with detergent and bleach (only a small amount of bleach though). They always come out nice and clean even after the 6 yr old wore her's through the mud.
It will be our first time. My middle daughter (Mini 2) will be competing with Indiana Elite. Pretty sure we are also bringing S3, S4, M1...probably one or 2 others as well. My Tiny and Youth daughters will not be competing here, but we are all excited about going!
I've been both a coach and a cheer mom. Yes, for the most part, the coaches know what is going on out there if not just from reading "drama mama's" body language. I do believe that if things are really getting out of hand that it should be handled by the gym owner. It's a matter of damage...
The things we have to do to protect our children aren't always pretty. I'm a pretty calm person, but I've definitely had my moments when I felt my child was being treated poorly.
I used plain construction paper circles with their names on them. I had them laminated and stuck some Velcro to the back. Some of the kids fixated on them a tiny bit at first (mostly just my kid), but they got over it. I would map out the entire routine in dots on the floor before they got...
I was always impressed (and sometimes a little surprised) what the Tinys I coached could accomplish. I coached Tinys for 2 seasons and took them over from a "don't expect much from them" approach. The process takes longer than with an older group, but they are so eager to be like the big kids...
The gym we are soon to start out has a sibling discount. We have 3 so I believe it is 10% off the 2nd and 20% off the 3rd. I've seen some gyms out there that are 50% off for child #2 and the 3rd child is free. Not sure how they manage that, but it would be nice.
Wow, I'm in Ohio now and there are only a handfull around (and the caliber of most programs is not great). We are moving to the Indianapolis area and it seems there are even less gyms there.
There would definitely be advantages to having more choices and I assume some competition helps keep...
I chose not to give Cheerlive! my money after rude and condescending comments when I couldn't get watch the Majors after paying. I refuse to give my money to any business that treats their customers with disrespect.
Although level 5 is essentially a programs flash and absolutely a motivational element to the lower level athletes in the gym I think it's a matter of how well the gym balances everything out.
Those level 5's are the gyms "right now",but those level 1-4's are the gyms future. When it comes...
Our "open" practices just meant that parents were present and watching from 2 viewing areas that were behind glass and a loft that
looked down on the floors (and that we could somehow hear every word that was being said up there). Parents were not allowed in the gym.
There was a gym up the...
Our previous gym had open practices. I was a parent for 2 seasons and a coach for 2 so I can see it from both sides. When I was just a parent I was always a very positive parent and keeping the environment in that viewing area sane was important to me. I loved watching my girls, but often...
Specific, honest, and no sugar coating it. If a parent takes issue they're probably someone who could have been an issue anyway. I remember when we started in cheer when my daughter was 4 and being surprised that the things that were spelled out would need to be spelled out for anyone. After...
We're heading to Indy this weekend and have plans to visit Indiana Elite and Interactive Academy. Thankfully I'm settling down a bit about the move since so far my girls are rolling with it pretty well. I'm working hard to stay positive to them about it although that has often not been the...
Gym stability is a big factor. We certainly don't want to have to switch programs once we make a choice. I so want to head out to Indy next week and just check them all out, but it's not an option. I'm kicking myself because I signed the girls up for a bunch of pre-tryout clinics at the gym...
