Rebels Closed. They did not sell to or merge with Power. The post from POWER was a bit misleading, as it appears it was a selling/merger but I can guarantee you it was not.
Our gym has avoided USA comps for years, considering JamBrands pulled most of their event from CA, we decided to give it a shot.
USA Nationals was a joke. Warmups were about the worst. Their communication was awful. The time they took away from one of teams tumbling warmups, they even...
Last week, our Sr 4 team found out one of their girls would not be able to compete at our last competition of the season. The coach asked my daughter if she would be willing to fill in in the pyramid, jumps and dance. The other girl was point dancer for most of the dance, so I asked CP if she...
I just want to check on clarification of the rule re: downward inversions maintaining contact with a base.
During a prep level waterfall, if both bases release both arms to catch, at what point can the backspot let go of the feet to keep it legal?
What you say makes sense but both these competitions were small (3 in the division first comp, two in the second) so as a coach, I'm trying to wrap my head around why tech scores were so much different so that I can understand and improve.
I wish I could see the tech scores for my competitor...

Do you feel judges score harder on technique as the season progresses? Same EP, same score sheet, (two of the same exact judges in fact) two months later and technique scores down by half a point. Both performances comparable in execution.
I'm thinking level 4 too, because at level 3 the connection has to be made at/below should level. The connection would be higher.
Side question: Can level 4 do this skill but a twist?
I will try to get a video tomorrow, but in the meantime, any feedback is appreciated.
Picture this: Prep level stunt
Flyer in prep, connects hand to hand with backspot (one hand)
Flyer does a front flip type of move (suspended forward roll?) and caught in a cradle.
What level is this...
I'm not a yeller. I, too, have found it to be ineffective. I don't want my athletes afraid of me, I want them to work for me. By being positive and encouraging, yet firm, I have good results.
If I do raise my voice, it's definitely a rare situation and they listen. Too much yelling and...
I absolutely love this thread!!
Besides being a coach, I'm a cheer mom too and my confession is that I have kept my CP home from school if she's not feeling well to make sure she's okay for practice that night.
I'm so sorry to be redundant! I'm just super confused. The score sheet says: "High: Most of the athletes participate in 2 level appropriate skills. Level 2 Appropriate Skills include: Round off BHS, round off BHS series, front walkover round off BHS"
The way I read it is that a round off bhs...
ASCheerMan I just want to clarify this question/answer above.
If a level 2 running pass is a round off triple backhandspring, you're saying that counts as three passes?

To clarify on tumbling. When it says in the high range "most of the athletes participate in 2 level appropriate skills" Does this mean that each athlete needs to do two passes? If I have 15 tumblers, ultimately I would need to have a total of 30 passes (ie: one synch pass with all...
We were having a discussion tonight at practice about running tumbling... I'm curious other thoughts, but especially if any judges want to chime in with their opinion.
Do judges want to see:
1) Squad tumbling (all passes from side to side or back to front)
2) A combination of the above with...
