I do agree with this idea, but I think it’s too soon to determine if any change will come from it. Based on previous “stands” taken or frustrations being voiced, I doubt it will. Varsity has made it real clear that the customer is not their primary concern.

For the love of all that is HOLY, YES!!!
Saturday my son didn’t have to check in until 3, but my daughter competed at 11-12. So we paid for my younger son to get in, along with my mother and myself. Admission fees for 2 days for 3 people were $100. Competition fees were $200 for one full year...
So I was at BATB and my kids team hit zero in Arena A both days. I don’t know how or if they rotate judges, but there was something called an “athlete error” that was mentioned to them to fix after day 1. They fixed it, and had the best performance of their entire season yesterday. We just knew...
To see Varsity involved kinda makes me cringe. I had hoped this Alliance would have started a movement away from total monopoly of the cheer world. We are a small part of a larger gym, but I just hate seeing one company control every aspect of this business.
I'm not a doctor or lawyer, I just...
So this may not be the right place to ask and I really don't know the whole behind the scenes because I'm just a parent who barely steps foot in the gym since CP can drive herself now....but WHAT in the NAME of SWEET BABY JESUS is going on with this music stuff? I saw the info from "USA Cheer"...
This isn't really directed at you personally at all, but reading this tickled me. Like let's take out a dance move that isn't really even drug related because it's not "appropriate", let's worry about the size of bows or showing our stomachs, let's not hug each other too much before we compete...
CEA Roanoke does-I would say almost half of our athletes on CPs team crossover to another team. I think it's like that for a lot of our teams.
I'm not a doctor or lawyer, I just play one at work.
I wouldn't say we have had huge 4.2 divisions, but enough to do split divisions in comps (so like 12-14 total in small 4.2, then an additional 10-12 in large).
I'm not a doctor or lawyer, I just play one at work.
I'm confused as to why SYTD would have any bearing on this? Have I just not had enough coffee? Like how would a TV show about finding the perfect wedding dress (where Kelly happens to mention owning the largest "cheer gym") help this new gym be successful? I'm really not trying to be dumb here...
I am happy to see/hear that-makes me think it IS actually possible. I still find it frustrating that the 4.2 bids aren't even remotely close to the other levels-paid, at large, or wild card. They just aren't. We are hoping for a wild card (and who knows, we still have three comps, anything is...
So I'm not sure if it was on this thread, but someone mentioned that there were some paid 4.2 bids given out. My CP is on a 4.2 team and like everyone else, is working hard for a summit bid. I go on Varsity and look-this is what ALL bids for 4.2 look like as of 1/21. I don't get it....why even...
Whoa. I know you aren't directing this at me but none of this was presented in the initial scenario. So, as a parent I'm assuming someone thought "Wow, if that was my kid, I would have pulled them from that horrible and sometimes illegal environment".
Hearing the whole story it makes a lot...
Easy there..... I think what the post was getting at was those items you mention would be total deal breakers (as they would be for me or my family). I don't see myself or this person judging you for sticking it out or saying you are as bad as people committing crimes. As a parent I'm saying I...
Haha, thanks. We have dealt with similar stuff in school cheer this year and I've almost pulled my kid several times-we have about a month left and we're done. Girls coming to practice drunk, coach knowing and trying to sweep it under the rug, coach issuing demerits to some but not others for...
Hit the nail on the head in every aspect for me. I can see all sides and honestly it's not black and white. Too much gray area and too many issues. I can see those loyal to the coach, I can see why it stinks being left behind, I can see why a coach who wanted an opportunity took it, and I can...
Kudos to you for sticking it out-but I have to say, this would definitely fall under "physical and/or mental danger" for me/my CP. Drugs and sex among coaches/teammates, teammates being arrested, stealing money....any of those would be times where I didn't feel an obligation to stick around. I'm...
