From the explanation I had heard, they took Worlds placements into account but also looked at overall success over several years (did their Worlds performance/placement come out of left field when comparing their previous seasons/performances), fan following (what teams are going to sell tickets), current season's potential for success (the season hasn't started yet so we don't know what these teams look like.. did a small team of 18 graduate 7 seniors that could effect their success this year..), etc etc.

Don't know if it's accurate but it made perfect sense at the time, and would make sense why the large senior/coed teams always have the most teams (most popular). I imagine it's not as easy of a process as inviting the top 3 placements each year.
This sounds about right, but given all of that, it seems ridiculous that Super Seniors were not an original invite.

Trending on Twitter

When you compare hastags I am not sure Cali is ahead right now. I don't think they are advertising and promoting the vote as much as some other gyms at this time.

Pretty sure this is incorrect. The Cali hastag was trending top 5 on twitter yesterday for like 5 hour and even made it to #1 ahead of the Republican National Convention hastag for like an hour. So I would guess based on that Cali is ahead at this point.

How is it even possible for Majors to count all the tweets anyways? Is there an app or something or do you think they already know who they are going to invite and are just using this for publicity?

There are hastag tracking programs that track the number of times a hashtag is tweeted so it'd probably be very easy for them to do.

That is what I was going to say, you can buy software to count hashtags.

Or you can just make whoever you want to win, win. I mean, I'm sure Varsity would never do anything like that because that wouldn't be ethical but they could.

But wouldn't everyone know that then, due to previously mentioned hashtag tracking programs? You could easily figure out the winner, or call them out on it.

A question about the Majors: wasn't the original intent of the competition for the audience to pay to see the athletes, the athletes pay no comp fees, and the money earned goes to scholarships for the athletes, to show them that they're the most important part of the sport?
