Anyone else had to scramble to get a picture ID of their non-driving age athlete whose school does not have ID's. We just found out about this new rule and we have had to rush a lot of things to make this happen. I thought USASF was going to provide these for us with the info on the kids birth certificate and the photos we provided at beginning of year. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe they did and our gym did not get them. I know in other sports they have them (soccer for one). From what I read they are lining up athletes by name and checking ID. Hope my CP does not lose hers. Giving copy to coaches/team mom just in case. Understand reason, just wish we had more time.

I agree more time would of been nice for younger kids. Not happy CP has to carry around her license though.

We have had changes in staffing. So prob got lost in the process, but still April 1 is not a lot of time. To get ID here from state can take up to two weeks. I'm lucky bc CP will have military dependent ID but some parents are scrambling

A notice was emailed from the coach to our team on April 2nd that USASF announced the need for ID. I wonder why you just were told??
We were told beginning of April too. My daughter has a license but for the younger kids trying to get an ID within a few weeks can b tough.

It stated in the Worlds packet that is online that photo ID's were required this year. It wasn't just sprung onto the coaches.

I'm not saying it was sprung on them. We just found out through staffing changes. I am sure everyone else knew about this long before us. It's just not easy to get an ID for a child under 14 if not provided by school. I know soccer provides ID cards for participants and if USASF did this is would provide uniformity. Even if just for worlds athletes.

We knew the week before Champions League. (Needed it then too but they accosted the photo copy of her Usasf profile page). I got an ID for mine...it took the full 14 days for it to come in the mail.

I said this when it was mentioned in the random thread... But anyone scrambling try a county ID. I had to get one to travel for cheer pre-license. I went to the county chamber of commerce office (which was in our mall, super convenient) they took my picture and I left with the ID in hand. Small fee, but look into it!

In soccer the ID (called a passcard) is issued by the league. Each birth certificate is verified and the ID is issued so everyone's ID is the same. I laminated ours and put them on a ring in the same order the kids were listed on the roster. The coach or manager usually keeps all of the id's (we never even see them). No passcard no playing in the game. No exceptions. If they were playing for another team the passcard must be given to the 2nd team for checkin.

The "proper protocol" before each game is to take the roster, call off the name & check the ID picture against each kid standing in front of them. The kids usually step forward when they're called so the refs know who is left. It takes less than 3 min for the whole process. It's not a perfect system, but it works fairly well.

If I'm not mistaken, USASF members can also get an ID card with a picture, team and date of birth on it. In order to be a registered member of USASF you need to provide them with a picture and birth certificate. I wonder why they are not given out as part of the membership process and use them at competitions. It would save duplication of effort.

We were told that photo IDs are required for all athletes at Summit as well. They are going to be checked just prior to entry to warm-ups. I just had to go get a state ID for my 10-year-old, since her school has no photo IDs.

Where did you hear/see this?
