The deadline for this has already passed. They were supposed to announce the finalists on their blog last night...nothing is on there yet though.

jesus there are like 500 "finalists" on that list
Yup. I'd love to hear from someone that wasn't a finalist lololol

ETA: I'm not trying to take away from anyone who entered - I know some of the names on the list and they are beautiful, deserving athletes. I just don't care for the way the contest is being promoted, and I'm definitely not a fan of the very young finalists.

I think there were about 175 finalist out of 3000 submissions. Of course I am guessing not everyone turned in all the paperwork including recommendations from their gym owner. So the actual group to choose from might have been fewer than 3000

This is based on social media likes, retweets, etc?

It's cool to enter but really, does the average kid really have a shot at this vs. someone who has 50,000 followers on instagram?
That's what I was thinking. Or I know some Kids would rather vote for someone on Top Gun or Great Whites than a smaller team. I hope it's just likes so maybe everyone can have a chance at winning. I think it's likes on there page.

Nope, not at all. I remember a contest that was all about likes, and after a week all the kids with tons of followers from popular teams were so far ahead, that the average kid had no chance of catching up at all.

ETA: It's a smart move from Fancy Face though - the kid with the most social media power wins - which in turn gives Fancy Face a lot of possibility for marketing.

I noticed they picked one male contestant: Dom Tonione, 18. I wonder if he will have an edge being the only boy. How many winners are picked? Is it just one winner?

pretty sure its just 1 winner, and its a popularity contest..
not to mention its just a ploy to get more followers.. for votes to be counted it says you have to be following them... *sigh*
