I wish we had a "YAAAS" button for some of these posts.

I'm *floored* seeing gyms pipe up with the "me too! Varsity is yayayayayay!" tweets.

It's like they're scrambling to show allegiance to Dear Leader so they don't get taken away and jailed in the middle of the night.

Don't forget the "produced by VARSITY" credit at the end of Worlds on ESPN...

It's so weird seeing gyms do the hashtag saying they choose Varsity! Well who else are they going to choose, there is no other options! lol
Maybe a different hashtag would have been wiser [emoji16]

I know one of the gym owners for at least one of those gyms is a Varsity uniform rep. Probably not all of them, but if you're getting a paycheck from Varsity, it's not shocking.

that makes sense.

I did notice that this was linked within the Parent's Forum on Facebook and magically got deleted between seeing it at CP's practice and our hour drive home...

Okay, you guys have to tell me...

What is the WORST that could happen if gyms and parents spoke up?

I can tell you what happens: you get threatened with a lawsuit (yes, I actually had that happen to me). And you know that Varsity has a lot more money than you have, so you are forced to keep your mouth shut.

A lawsuit for telling the truth?

How does that work internationally? I mean, you're in Germany and they're based in the US? I could see the Germans laughing and slamming a door in their face; but I'm sure I'm wrong.

Though this tactic doesn't surprise me; it's the basic concept of oppression.

Even though the Varsity hq is in the US, there are companies over here that - even though they have a different name - operate as subsidiaries (hope that's the right name) of Varsity.

ETA: And I honestly wouldn't be surprised if my gym owner gets a phone call (or I get an E-Mail) from them in the next couple of days over what I write here...

If everyone is stating that you need a sprung floor to do cheerleading then most UK teams are screwed as most I know train dead floor but just use gymnastic mats. So glad the varsity stranglehold hasn't made its way to the UK though but I fear for UK cheerleading as Varsity Europe has made an emergence and are sponsoring team uniforms for high profile UK teams. Either way I'm proud to say I am no where near varsity and will continue to boycott their products as a mark of rebellion to the beast.
