Hi guys!
So I'm a coach and I'm trying to do something different for next year's music. I really want to do a theme to our music and my favorite theme that I've thought of so far is MUSICALS! I just watched The WIZ on NBC and so I'm feeling really inspired. I coach a coed squad and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for certain songs from musicals and what routine section do you think it would be good for. So far I have Defying Gravity from Wicked for our stunt sequence and maybe Cell Block Tango from Chicago for our dance.

Also, does anyone have any cheer music company recommendations? We used Cheer Sound last year and the years before that we worked with Leighton Clarke (Love him!) but I'm totally down for new suggestions.

Thank you all so much! :)

Really cool theme...

Legally blonde-Bend and Snap
Evita- High, flying Adored
Bring It On- What I was Born to do

So fun! I've used Patrick with Cheer Music Pro, amazing but he doesn't accept school teams anymore. We've used CheerSounds a few times. Unbeatable service! Other than that, I've just used local people many many years ago, and I'm not sure if any of them even do music anymore!

Newsies - Sieze the Day
Kinky Boots - Everybody say yeah, raise you up,
On Your Feet - Gloria Estafan broadway show
Rent - Seasons of Love
Something from Annie? Tomorrow, hard knock life, never fully dressed without a smile
Lion King - Circle of Life
Beauty and the Beast - Be Our Guest (could be a cute dance or jump section)

I would need to think on this, but my CP and I were just talking about how cool it would be to use this as a theme! The song that first jumped into my head was the chorus from "My Shot" from the musical "Hamilton". I know I will think of more!

I've been DYING for someone to use Seize the Day in their music. "Something to Believe In" and "The World Will Know" from Newsies would also be great choices.

OP, maybe you mentioned this already but how old is the team you are working with? The Peter Pan soundtrack ("I'm flying") and the Matilda sound track ("Miracle", "Naughty", "When I Grow Up", and "Revolting Children") would be adorable if it was a younger team.

From Wicked:
I'd loveeee to see a team dance to "Dancing Through Life". "Popular" is really good, too. "The Wizard and I" has the same strong belting kinda singing that Defying Gravity has if you want to use that.

The Hairspray Soundtrack has a lot of great songs you could use. You could literally use the entire soundtrack. (Cheer Dynasty Jr 5 did a hairspray mix in 2008, one of my favorite mixes.)

"History has its eyes on you", "The Room Where it Happens", "Helpless" all from Hamilton.

"Out Tonight" and "Seasons of Love" from Rent.

"Roxie" and "Razzle Dazzle" from Chicago

"Omigod You Guys", "What You Want", "Positive", "So Much Better", "Whipped Into Shape", "Legally Blonde" from Legally Blonde.

The first 5 songs from Moulin Rouge are great options.

"Fame" from Fame

"Luck Be A Lady" from Guys and Dolls

I'll probably come up with more at work today.

Brilliant ideas! Thank you so much! :)

I love Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine... if 'Rhythm Is Gonna Get You' were part of a musical soundtrack, I would definitely advise you to use it for your dance.

This mix is what came to mind when I saw this!

ETA: I miss GBE in this division and this is one of my favorite dances I've ever seen a junior team do

I thought of this routine as I was watching The Wiz on NBC (technically on Hulu) the other night. I miss Lime's Broadway mixes so much :( I wish they'd do a throwback mix and do all musicals again.

OP - I thought of a few more yesterday

"For Good" - Wicked

""All That Jazz" - Chicago

"You're Never Fully Dressed" - Annie

"A Musical" - Something Rotten! (This would absolutely make my year if you used this as the opening song or the dance song. It's literally a song explaining what a musical is. From a musical. It would be amazing and hysterical and clever. Would be great for a flashy opening or dance.)

Side note: I want a team to do a strictly Wicked/The Wiz/The Wizard of Ox mix.
