Does your gym tend to perform the same, better, or slightly worse when they return from the long break?

We don't compete until the 16th. But with no practice this weekend, I'm hoping when they come back on the 3rd, they're refreshed and re-engergized and ready to work!

They aren't fun. We always compete the weekend after we get back, with only 2 practices between break and competition. I don't think the kid are on top of their game.

That's how my CP will be when they return from the break. They will get 3 practices in before their next comp. If history repeats itself like it has for the last 3 seasons they never perform well following the break :defeated:

But I'm hoping that they will be refreshed and excited to compete and break their streak of not so good performances following an extended break.!!!

We compete the week we come back.

But we aren't really closed for break. We have a few days off but are still practicing and making up practices on the few missed holidays. So I hope we will be fine! We are going to a comp for money and the 2 of our 8 teams left that still need an at large/ paid summit bids. So if we want those we have to perform well.

Last 2 competitions we were level 1- 5 high point so we have to keep our streak going to get the money and bids lol

At first I thought this thread was "Competitions before a break" which I love as you don't have to worry about missing school so you can stay longer where your comp is and explore the city, especially for travel comps.

But we don't really have many comps after the school holidays, they (AASCF(Australian all star cheerleading federation) tend to schedule them in the middle, a bit before, or on breaks.

So I don't know how we would go, but probably worse because we haven't been training so we're not fit. I'm currently on my summer break now, and I'm alternating swimming (another one of my sports) with tumbling in the backyard (I'm only level one) and doing a long stretch session when I have time, so I don't lose all my fitness. Our school swimming carnival is like 2 weeks after we go back so I want to stay fit for that also.

We have never done it before... Last year when we were in IL we didn't go to JSN because of its proximity to the break. This year in NC we compete on the 10th after being closed the 21-31. I'm not super worried about it though. Drop was in the gym yesterday and will be again on the 28-29 so I think she will be just fine. I'm also really looking forward to those two comps, so nothing will make me not want to go.

Except when I think about after that it's almost time for Cheersport and this season is already going by way too fast and I'm not ready!

We have four teams going to JSN. We close today and they have practice again on the 3rd. We have a couple tumbling/jumping/flexibility clinics over break so hopefully they'll be fine.

Wow! Those are awesome stats for your gym 6/8 teams with bids to the Summit already!

Our gym has practice tomorrow and then on the 3rd and 6th. Compete the 9th. Hope for repeat of last year of a summit bid!

CP's gym is closed for 2 weeks but aren't scheduled to compete again until the end of the month so they'll have close to a full month of practices under their belts. I can't imagine being off for 2 weeks and then competing so soon.

Hate comps after breaks! If it's right after, the kids are so not ready. The worst was always WCA (Opryland nationals now I think?) It was between Christmas and New Years. Worst timing ever! Getting in full team practices and not being able to travel over Christmas break wasn't fun!

Yes last year we only had 4 of 8 bids (3 at large and 1 paid) at this time so we definitely are slightly better off with (4 at large and 2 paid).

Also the competition we are going to right after break is the first time we are going to this competition. So I'm kind of excitedly nervous! I just want the teams to do their best and be ready!!

Mostly my daughters team. They would of got an at large bid at the last comp just hitting 0 on the second day but they had deductions both days. (We would of been the 3 highest level 3s of the comp y3,j3, and s3 so that's how we would of got the bid)

Everyone else hit 0 day 2 and only 1 other had deductions day 1 so they were all set up very nicely to get the bids.

The only other team that didn't get a bid at the bid comp is next in line at that comp, so if our y2 upgrades to paid then j2 would get the passed down at large bid anyways. However they are both perfect, they could easily get the bid without the help!

We went to a comp in Virginia the last weekend of the Christmas break last year and it wasn't bad in the sense that they did practice during the week of the break without worrying about school, but it was very hard to return to school on the Monday after break after a comp weekend! I love when comps fall the first weekend of a break and you do not have to worry about the aftermath. Worlds this year fall on Passover weekend, and cp actually has off from school that Friday and Monday :cheering:.
