I STILL own a pair of mustard yellow soffees from HS and a pair of Navy from my All Star gym...I won't let them go b/c they're like "Binky"
Lol right! I have a pair that I still wear from when I started middle school cheer. Good thing I never got a butt so they still fit [emoji23]

This might be off-topic for this particular thread, but does anyone's HS team have Varsity Motionflex uniforms? We are looking at a package with a Motionflex skirt (with attached briefs) and two Motionflex tops.

I'd like to know if this material holds up well over time and is flattering on everyone.

Also, if not Varsity Motionflex, what other materials do you like? I am just so ready to get away from the traditional poly shell tops with tackle twill lettering!

We have dry tech, which is like motion flex. It's good and bad-I think it looks better, fits better and is cheaper, but I don't think it will last 10 years like old poly shells.

We looked into MotionFlex when we got our new uniforms but decided against it. We thought maybe not everyone would like it since its tighter . I personally would not have been comfortable in a MotionFlex top.

We ended up with the newer Varsity PowerFit instead. I absolutely love it. I did once say that it's like cheering in a cloud and I stand by that. Very comfortable but not too tight. They're the ones in my avatar picture.

I highly recommend it!

We did get new MotionFlex bodysuits (well I think they are?) for our polyester uniforms. Very comfortable.

ETA: I want to say that our Varsity rep said that any MotionFlex uniform could be done in PowerFit (and any polyester uniform could be done in PowerFit, but a MotionFlex uniform could not be done in polyester or the other way around). Not 100% on that but I remember her saying something of that sort. Might be something to consider!

Is it flattering? Only if you have nothing to hide! It shows all of the lumps, bumps, etc…

Are these going to be shared, school-owned uniforms? If so, I would be washing them myself as the coach because I don't trust everyone's hygiene and you will essentially be sharing the briefs and the uniforms don't need to go into the dryer!

We had black motion flex uniforms that we loved.... And white ones we hated. If your uniform is largely white I'd steer clear of motion flex and go for powerfit. We got white powerfit unis my senior year and they were much more flattering than the motion flex ones! But I'm still team black unis because black is the most flattering color so if it's in your school colors I'd use that as the base. My school was green and gold, neither which make great base colors for unis IMO so we could do white or black.

We have motion flex... Kids love it. TOTALY not off topic. Some of my kids that aren't super itty bitty like it because if you had a heavier lunch that day... Things don't feel super tight.
Unrelated... I got into this fun little talk with another coach about certain colors and styles that appeal to judges... "White bows" brighten faces and are appealing (this I have heard from a few of my friends who have judged local comps) ...( I was scrolling through USA national results the other day and a good 75% of the champions has white bows lol) then we were talking about how clean all black or all white uniforms look and how many squads who place high have a uniform with a dominate base color and just minor accent colors.... What are your thoughts everyone?!

We had motion flex once. Used them one season and never again!!

It wasn't flattering on everyone. Showed every bump and roll on anyone that wasn't a complete stick! It also rode up some when performing. We kept a poly skirt with a motion flex top at the recommendation of our rep. Our uniforms are passed down every season and motion flex doesn't alter well. The whole attached brief also doesn't work well for hand me down uniforms! We also had stain issues. The tops held in every stain and no matter what we tried they wouldn't come out.

I personally wore motion flex in college. So comfy, but if you felt bloated at all then you felt like a cow in your uniform! I would suggest trying the power fit. I've not used it but have only heard great things!

I love big white bows and white crew socks! Our uniforms (with the exception of 1) are definitely clean, non-busy, more collegiate looking uniforms. We have one, that while not flashy, is a little busier (for us, others may not think so!) We have worn that uniform to a comp before and did not notice any score or opinion differences based on uniform.

A long time ago (5 or 6 seasons?) we got a fancy bow with stones and different fabrics. It went with the uniform at the time very well, but the judges did not like it. We got actual comments on the scoresheet that our bows were distracting. Since then we've gone with plain solid, glitter solids etc.

Big white bows and crew socks are my favorite! And paired with a nice red lip...except if you have burgundy/maroon as one of your colors then wear that. Nothing looks worse if you have burgundy as a color and you have bright red lips. Yuck.

I prefer the more collegiate looking uniforms over the ones with all the braiding (I think that's what it's called?)

Hello, my twin. Or quadruplet.

Great minds think alike LOL.

Here in Cali... If I asked my kids to wear socks... They might shoot me, I think I can count on 1 hand the number of schools I've seen on the West Coast that wear crews. (I'm not against it... I think it's cute...) here its tall Bobby with short skirts for novelty or no shows.
Here I also see lots of bling and back... (I dial it down because while I like a little a bit of trend I like to keep it fresh, young and all American...I love me my white bows!!!

My team had all white uniforms this year (I'll post a picture late) with navy, red, and gray lines, and the skirt had a red and grey line at the bottom. They were really comfy and even when I got red lip stick stains on it, they would come off pretty easy. (They must be power fit)

We wore it with plain navy bows until a little later in the season when we got red ones.
