Our gym took two teams last year and we had a great time! We stayed in the Buckhead area (it's a stay to play comp) and used MARTA to get to the GWCC. We had no issues with MARTA. Our teams traveled mostly together, but one time my daughter and I were by ourselves and we just hung with cheerleaders from other teams . Many of our kiddos hung out at GWCC Friday night after practice to watch the tumbling competition and several Worlds teams. I was so glad we did that because we wouldn't have had time to see them on Saturday and sunday. As in the post that's linked above...good shoes are a must! My whole body ached for 3 days after we got home...so much walking!!!! And I laughed at the air mattresses...but completely understand why they are brought by some teams. Also, watch the weather. It was FREEZING last year! Thank goodness for those Cheersport blankets!!! Another thing...if you want the Hard Rock Cafe pin and shirts, go early! I thought the competition was well run and lots of fun.

Wear good walking shoes. Bring a blanket. Bring snacks. Lines are long. Lots of walking. Awards halls are literally a mile from comp halls. Bring lots of cash. Be prepared to have a late night both nights due to the number of teams and general size of the comp. HOWEVER- it's always run very well and close to schedule. Oh, and get red deck parking passes online as soon as the center allows.I'm competing at cheersport nationals for the first time in 2017! I've never been to this competition, or any competition close to this size. If anyone has any advice they want to give to me or any other newbie, or what I should expect that would be great
I'm glad to hear that the comp is well run, my biggest fear is a poorly run comp but as far as the weather goes, I'll be coming from the middle of a canadian winter, so atlanta will be like a tropical vacation:tsnuami:
16 F is about -9 C, coming from -20 to -30 I'll be glad for even -15 lolMaybe not. It was 16 degrees F ( well below 0 C) when we left our room Sat morning last year. Warmer than Canada, but not by a lot.
