Yes, I understand that. We are a D1 gym, our team received a 2nd D1 WC bid in error. That bid was then apparently 'passed down' to a D2 team to attend the D2 Summit. Assuming they can do what they want, but that D1 bid that should have gone to a team that competed D1. There was only 1 D2 WC bid allocated for this comp, but 2 D2 bids were given which means one less deserving team from the D1 division will get a bid.

Basically the summit bid declaration sums it up... the EPs get to do what they want. ;)

The Summit
Highest scoring teams across each eligible level will be considered for paid and at large bids.
An effort will be made to distribute bids to deserving teams across multiple levels and age groups.
Dance Summit
National Champions and 2nd place teams in qualifying Summit divisions are eligible for paid and at-large bids.
D2 Summit
Highest scoring teams across each eligible level will be considered for paid and at large bids.
General (applies to all bid types)
Bids will be awarded at the discretion of the tournament director taking into account the following criteria: Score, Sportsmanship, Level Distribution
(cheer) and Division Distribution (dance).
In an effort to most fairly award bids, the following metrics will also be taken into consideration:
Percentage of Perfection within the levels
Placement within the divisions
Depth of divisions
Depth of teams within levels
Final distribution of bids across levels is dependent upon actual registrations and will be determined at the event.
*This bid distribution procedure is subject to change at the discretion of the tournament director.

Ya, I get it. I just think that's crap, lol! And the team that got it, didn't even win...

I'm new here, but I have to say I hate the way the new bids are revealed. I have a daughter on a SS5 team and also a daughter on a Y1. We've been doing All Star Cheer for 6 years and love having that adrenaline and excitement when any win is achieved, 1st place, grand champs, summit bid, etc. Having to wait, potentially not be with your team is really taking that thrill away from the kids excitement on stage and living that moment. Parents too. They are just as excited as the athletes.

My understanding was this was to alleviate errors, etc. During the reveal, Our gym received a WC bid at the first competition of the season. We competed again a month later, and the same team received a 2nd WC bid at the reveal??? Clearly, this was an error. It took away from the team that was supposed to get it as well as made us all shake our heads and think those in charge of this competition had no idea what they were doing. In addition, we just noticed that 2nd Summit WC bid our team got was ten given to a D2 team that competed??? How is that possible? This was a D1 Summit bid - comp had 3 WC bids for D1 and 1 WC bid for D2.

I'm pretty upset about the errors that have been made as well. Varsity had my gym down as not accepting bids, even though I saw the bid sheet and we said we would accept any bid, so my j1 didn't get the bid. Two weeks later, we get contacted saying there was a mistake, and now we have a wildcard bid.

The exact same thing happened last year, but we found out at the competition and it was for an at large bid.

Bottom line, judges can do whatever they want and give to whoever they want. Now that it's done on Monday they don't have to listen to angry coaches either. [emoji1]

We haven't had any issues with bids thus far.
However especially this year we know getting the highest score doesn't mean anything. There is generally a difference across judging panels, some score harder so their highest scores are lower and other panels score higher so they have to review who would really earn it if they were judged by the same panel.

I knew with the last bid announcement that though my daughters team was the highest score it didn't necessarily make them the best team. We were on the edge of our seats waiting and I was sad we weren't going to find out at the comp.
But our gym said they will continue to throw summit watch parties on mondays.
It was so amazing having so many of our teams there and celebrating with 3 other of our teams at the watch party that got AL or PD bids. It actually wasnt bad and an amazing experience. I kind of think I preferred it over being at the comp with her team. It was much better shared with everyone at the same time so it turned into a positive.

Our gym did send out correspondence before hand to hopefully clear up any confusion about who may receive bids.

And this was the Saturday night before^

I truly love our owners and I think they are a huge reason we are so successful.
Obviously I'm biased

All the Vipers I've ever encountered were nothing but classy. The "Viper way" is working.

So 4 of our teams got a summit bid 2 weeks ago.

Small Junior 4- Paid
Small youth 1- AL
Small youth 2- AL
Small youth 3- AL

The remaining teams at our gym all got a summit bid tonight
Large Junior 2- AL
Large Junior 3- AL
Large Senior 3- AL
Small Senior 4- AL
Small senior restricted 5- AL

For the 3rd year in a row we are taking all eligible teams to the summit on an AL or Paid bid! We now have a few more comps to clean up on Paids and it's only December [emoji173]️[emoji7][emoji216]

Yes! We are so excited[emoji216]
They focus on all our teams and it shows, I never know who is going to be the best team of the weekend until they show up at competition![emoji173]️

We literally can't believe it!! Everyone is thrilled!

Fury Athletics from Pleasant Valley, Missouri has two bids this season!

Our small junior 1 (the team I coach) got a D1 wildcard bid at our first competition in late November, and our large junior 2 got a D2 at large bid at America's Best Nationals this past weekend. We are so excited and so proud! 2/4 teams bid eligible have bids this season, and last year we had 2/7 bid eligible teams got bids, so we feel really great about where we are at even though our athlete numbers are lower than last year.

I haven't paid attention to it before but does it seem like more people are accepting wild card bids? I feel like I'm the past many people would only accept at-larges or paid, but I am seeing more and more gyms accepting wild cards that I wouldn't expect.
