I also don't think the groups of friends weave together organically like on TNG. It's either forced or extremely random

At one point Zoe and Rashka are hiding from Baaz and Zoe says something like "he'll recognize you but not me"

Like Zoe isn't student body president and like Baaz's sister isn't VP

Especially with siblings! Like there should be something! I mean even with the relationships between grades, we need something.

They definitely made more of an effort during season 6/7/8 of TNG. (The "new" people showing up, Lakehurst kids moving to Degrassi, and then the next 'generation' of kids started.)

(Still not over JT.)

JT is still a sore subject. It didn't have to happen that way. It's one of the only episodes I've never rewatched.

I started watching somewhere in TNG. But I would like to start from the beginning. Netflix sadly only has the next class (?) idk if that's the name but the new one with Maya, Zig, Tristan and them.

If you want to go all the way back... that would mean watching Kids of Degrassi Street (70s), and Degrassi Junior High (80s and 90s). I haven't seen the former, but there are full episodes of the latter on YouTube.

TNG full episodes from season 1 and 2 are on Youtube. I know some streaming sites have all of TNG to watch but the sites are not very legal.

Not at all! Like as much as I hated Goth Ashley, it was a dramatic change from who she used to be. Or how Manny was second fiddle and then went all bad girl. Paige becoming more nuanced after the assault. I just feel like these kids go through all this drama and are still the same people they were when we met them.

Maya's meltdown was a missed oppurtunity imo. Yes her depression was because of all the mess she's gone through but it escalated very quickly.

I loved Manny, after I stopped hating her for getting with Craig. And I get that Ashley was hurt, but exposing the pregnancy was so petty of her. In fact, Ashley pissed me off nearly as much as Emma; remember when Ashley popped ecstasy (what is with these kids and ecstasy?) at her house party because she wanted everyone to think she was fun and not some overachieving goody two-shoes? LOL

@cheerisloving I loved the Ashley that came back from England for her senior year. Manny's promiscuous phase was WAY more believable than Maya's. Cutting, and maybe pill popping (painkillers, not E.), would have been more realistic.

Also I can't think of a nonfatal plot twist that was as devastating as Jimmy getting shot because of Spinner playing along with Jay's foolishness toward Rick. Notice everyone that got involved w/ Jay ended up burnt? Spinner (got his best friend shot, then got expelled for confessing), Alex and Emma (STD scares)... and don't forget Sean (stole Snake's laptop while he was going through chemo)

Right. Maya was exactly who I was thinking of. "Bad" things happen to these characters but nothing causes them to evolve. Maya is who she was from the start

So shoutout to the degrassi YouTube channel with all the episodes but the opening seemed weird and now I realize they replaced the opening song and montage with a montage from all the classes and I don't like it

Same with Frankie. No matter what happens to her, it never seems to be her fault. And she can't accept responsibility for her actions.


Frankie ended up back on the team, and the drama was promptly forgotten after the bus crash.

Yep. No sports drama this season lol unless you count the cross country period...a plot line that was unnecessary

Manny and Emma did it much better
