Okay, I have another random question! I'm writing about standing jumps sequences in my cheer series at the moment and want to make sure I use the correct terms. Is there specific jump, aside from like fulls, that cannot be used in level 3 jumps? And then also I looked up and know that of course "toe touch" is the proper term for what I always just called a split. But then I found both hurkie and also hurdler for what I consider to be the same move, based on photos. Any help? Thanks so much! And shoutout to the cheer mom that made the note that I didn't include standing jumps in the first book of my series. I refuse to make the same mistake in book 2!
I found this article: Herkie or Hurdler? Know the Difference
I've only done front hurdlers so not sure how accurate. You should google them up, since they are very popular too. Most jump sequences I've seen have front hurdler/toe touch/pike. Not very often side hurdler or herkie. This is from an international perspective though.

Also don't forget the pike jump! :)

I'd consider toe touch, hurdler, and pikes to be the most common jumps. Fulls are part fo standing tumbling, not jumps, unless you connect the full to a jump. Level 3 allows some jump tp tumbling, specifically jump to back handspring. Ex. toe touch back hardspring. Jump connected to back tuck and jump connecte to standing full are both illigal in level 3

Thanks for the info! I mentioned but didn't highlight the jumps for now. I'll need a bit more time to make them rather clear and everything, and that will be easy to do in the book that focuses on a level 5 team where I can also have team member thrown standing fulls. Thanks again!

Okay, super random legality question. In level 5, can a double around or even single around occur while an athlete is standing on just one leg? I understand it might be super hard, even if it is legal, but I need some really hard stunting things to put into book 3 of my series and would love to make it authentic and legal at the same time. Thanks!

Yep, both full or double around on one leg would be legal in level 5.

Yes! There is no rule against this, as long as it doesn't exceed 2 1/4 spins at the top.

I definitely could be wrong but I feel like this could be legal in level 5? I'm not seeing any rules against it? I know 1 1/2 are illegal, and I know front layouts out of front handsprings are legal.
The only running tumbling rules for level 5 are:
1 - Skills are allowed up to 1 flipping and 2 twisting rotations.
2 - Tumbling skills involving flipping and twisting immediately into a double twisting tumbling skill are not allowed.
3 - Twisting skills immediately out of a double twisting tumbling skill are not allowed.
have 1 1/2s always been illegal? I'm sure ive seen some teams (CEA comes to mind) do a line with a 1 1/2 through to something..

I think she meant that 1 1/2's are legal bc the pass in question wouldn't work if they were illegal and she concluded that the pass would be legal.
Anywho they definitely are legal

Hey does anyone on here know about the warranty on summit rings? The "warranty/defective" page on the website is blank and every time I have called to ask about it they have been conveniently out of office. I have also sent tons of emails with no response. Any idea about how to contact them and get a real response?

With competitions getting bigger and bigger and more non worlds teams are doing more and more traveling to other states to compete, how do you all handle all of the missed school days?

As an athlete, my parents put the responsibility on me to keep up with assignments. For weekend comps where I will miss Monday and Friday, I tell all my teachers on Wednesday before I leave that I won't be here. Normally they just tell me what we will be doing, but telling them on Wednesday is helpful because if they have a worksheet or something to give me, it gives them a full day to get it together if they need to. Then on Thursday, I find two classmates from each class to send me their notes. I used to find one student, but if you find two, that prevents the student being sick, staying home, etc, and not giving you notes. I try to get as much done as I can on Friday and then I try to finish the rest on Monday on the way home, but if I recognize that I have too much homework to just finish on Monday, then I will work Saturday night. Additionally, I check in with each of my teachers before class or before school on Tuesday just to review what I did, what I'm confused on and if i need anything more. The best strategy for me is to overprepare to get your work done.

okay i know a girl on the team gave that response about ody's red bow... so i don't want to say she's wrong and i am not a team member so i could also be wrong. but i'm pretty sure the original red bow was in support of kids from fame(i think it's fame?) that got in a car accident and passed away. then they became more a tradition in seasons following.
edit: i'm old. i don't even think any of the kids on the current team could have been on the team when that happened. so maybe they don't even know? haha weird.

I know this was posted a long time ago, but you're correct. In 2009, we lost 5 athletes at fame. Jay, Breanna, Isiah and his brother Dobby, and Shae. It was a terrible year for us emotionally. During a competition in Baltimore (I cannot remember the name, it was years ago) it was about 1 or 2 weeks after we lost Isiah, Odyssey wore red bows in solidarity for FAME. It was the MOST emotional moment I've ever witnessed in cheer. I immediately started crying. Followed by our coed 5 team coming out and in the music they said, "In memory of Isiah" (This was prior to Dobby passing away). During the routine, they didn't fill Isiah's spot. They left his tumble pass open.

And here is the same comp where Odyssey wore the red bow.
