Wait, so he was using the name illegally?
That's what they said in the news story.
Only thing I can think of was he stopped paying his franchise fees but I have zero facts to back that statement up.

Yeah they definitely knew,
Gymtyme (KY) retweeted GymTyme IL tweet that had the twitter name for C4 changing to GymTymeGA

It's like they were all brothers and sisters and now gymtyme KY is trying to disown them because of the bad rep they are getting from it! I wish them all the luck and hope everything gets sorted out.

Took me a few seconds to notice the GT post because I was so distracted by those shoes. Good Lord.

What was most interesting about this is that GT is a LLC and has its own legal representation. Are most franchise gyms like this? I've been out the AS game for so long.

I am thinking that its possible thatthe relationship with Gymtyme started above board, and he stopped paying franchising fees or didn't meet other obligations. Taking legal action in those situations takes time and if I were Gymtyme I wouldn't want the fact that they had to sever a franchise owner to be front page news, hence no one hearing about it.

I just feel bad for the families and kids. This has happend to me TWICE. The second time a parent stepped up and paid our comp fees, after the owner squandered away what we paid him, on lord knows what. I will say that Varsity was very understanding of our situation, becasue we also had two worlds bids and the owner was going through major legal issues-they worked with us to make sure our kids got to Worlds no matter what.

The GA website and Facebook pages are gone.

Best of luck to the kids and their families. I'm glad they are going to cs. I hope that they are able to find a stable gym next season.

He has a special needs team in IL that has a world's bid. He better not screw that up for them. That's a warning and not a threat. If a parent from his gym in IL is reading this, and something happens due to his actions to prevent the special needs team from going to worlds please let me know. I will do all that I can to help them. I have family up in that area who work in the media and will utilize everything I can to help those kiddos and their families if he tries anything.

Making another comment on this post because, coincidently the same thing happened yesterday at my daughter's prior gym. A year ago, they threatened to pull from a competition, but decided to attend at the last minute. So, in that time, nothing has changed? No policies were made to strengthen their financial situation? If parents aren't paying, is it because they've already paid for uniforms that have still not been delivered? One reason that I feel like this keeps happening is that parents are not allowed to comment about what is happening. Publicly or otherwise. They are not allowed to complain or voice concerns, because, if they speak up, their child will end up like mine...not cheering at all. Fortunately that leaves me in a position where I'm able to say something without threat of retribution.

THIS.

This. If the fear of retaliation were absent, thing would look a lot different.
