Hello everyone!

For those of you that I haven't met you here on Fierce Boards, I'm a young adult fiction author and I am in the middle of writing a series about all star cheerleading. I am currently working on book 4 and have some pyramid questions that I need some legal help on.

Would the following be legal:
A basket toe touch that would be caught low to the ground, but the flier would be caught while pulling a heel stretch. From there the bases would take the flier who is still holding the heel stretch up to full extension while the flier twists around once. From there the plan would be for the flier to move to a lib position so she can grab the hands of two other fliers before her stunt group dipped lower then tossed her up for an assisted backflip thanks to the other fliers holding her.

Sorry if that was a lot or if I explained any of it in away that made it more confusing. I am trying to work in a hard stunt that will also allow a character to stay off her right ankle as much as possible due to an injury.

Thanks again, and let me know if i need to explain any of that in a different way.

Not sure what you mean by a catch low to the ground, but a basket has to be caught in a cradle, so they couldn't catch in a heel stretch. They could however catch in a normal cradle and then have the flyer pull a heel stretch. The next bit depends how you get to extension. After that it's legal (you only need one brace for the flip)

Thanks! Yeah, I don't know how to describe catching someone lower than prep position, but I guess that would be cradle.

When you said they could catch her and then she could pull a cradle, that would be like catch her on one count and then she would quickly by lifted into the heel stretch position? And you said it would depend on how they get to extension in the next bit. If after she was caught in cradle and then pulled a heel stretch, could they lift her to full extension while she also did a single twist around on the way up?

I've seen some L5 teams do ball ups using the traditional basket grips, so it would be legal to do the stunt you described. It would be considered a release move that is caught below prep level which is legal from levels 3 and up.

Thank you!

This is the first time I'm really going into detail describing pyramid and not only is explaining all of it hard at times, knowing the full legal scale is not easy either. Hopefully I have it all good now and just need to focus on making it read well, especially for readers that don't also do cheer.

It's impressive how detail oriented you are in your writing very refreshing.

Thanks. I appreciate you saying that.

I figured as the only author of young adult fictional books about all star cheerleading, I need to make sure I represent the book all the way. This way people who know the sport can feel like it was done right, and people who are reading about it for the first time can also imagine what is going on and get a lot out of it as well. I would hate for someone to read something and just be bummed that it wasn't real or legal, or even for it to give someone the wrong idea of what all star cheer is really all about. It makes for a lot of work and research, so I'm beyond thankful for Fierce Board and the people I get to chat with and connect with on all of my questions! :)

Your description of the toe touch brings back memories of Brandon Senior Black sometime between 2010 and 2015ish. If I remember correctly, they did a TT release move to stretch. May be a good place to grab some inspiration.

It almost sounds like what Panthers do in their stunt now too.

I love that you're making sure your pyramid is legal for your story... it's nice when I'm so used to seeing Hollywood throw inverted baskets and 2.5 high pyramids into high school and level 5 allstar routines lol.

Exactly!!! I get that it looks good on TV or in movies and all that, but showing viewers and unrealistic version of cheer is part of the problem of why people don't seem to "get it" when it comes to all star cheerleading.
