On DWTS, Sadie Roberts and Bindi Irwin were both around Lauries age and had some of the same struggles with learning how to do mature dances but I dont remember either of them being treated this way. I want to imagine that Laurie is a lot more mature than she is portrayed on the show.

It's starting to get on my nerves a little. I can't imagine watching a 19 year old being treated that way though, yikes! You're not even a teenager, you are an adult at that point...

@njallday val's speeches on the show/social media posts about Laurie have weirded me out a little. He talks about her like shes older but the show doesn't portray her as that and it creates some dissonance for me. I don't really blame him, entirely. It's just... weird. It's amplified bc she's a minor, too. Sophie was a minor when she was a contestant but her persona on the show was not child-like. The girl from the Hunger Games, who played Rue, was younger than Laurie I think and she wasnt "childish". I feel like the show completely missed the "young" and went right to "child".

But yeah, maybe Val just struggles with the balance between mature and sexy. I don't think Laurie can quite pull off "sexy" so Val was like "no mature freestyle dance for you." Both Mark and Derek can create mature dances that aren't "sexy" and it has worked well for their younger partners. (I miss Mark, can Jersey Boys close already?)

I'd love to see Sharna and James win for Sharna as well. She has been an incredible coach and choreographer the past couple of seasons.

I agree that Mark and Derek have handled younger stars really well, Mark especially with the Robertson's looming to make sure Sadie stayed looking Christian and wholesome at all times.

Val was paired with Zendaya when she was 16, and granted social media wasn't as big and their age gap was smaller, but I don't remember feeling weird about their partnership like I do with Laurie/Val. Maybe traveling all over the country and being together 24/7 without the rest of the cast to balance it out just amped up their closeness?

But YES to Sharna. I go back and forth with her; some seasons I love her and some I don't really get into any of her dances. I still think she deserves an Emmy for that Paso Doble with Noah Galloway. There were little hints of that Paso in James' freestyle when he was "fighting" the grim reaper/death/whatever the two guys dressed in black were portraying and it brought me back. It's time for her to win.

Tell me about it! They've danced to One Direction, Carly Rae Jepson, Little Mix and most recently did the jive to Hey Mickey where she was a cheerleader with pigtails.

On their first week one of the presenters gave them baby toys whilst waiting for their scores and on her partners 22nd birthday (which fell on a show night) they gave him a 2 and a 2 balloon but joked they wanted to give him a 1 and a 2 instead:rolleyes:

She's dancing to Cry me a River this week so maybe the maturity level is rising by a few years haha.

Congratulations to Laurie and Val!

That La La Land performance started out so lovely, the second half was a little... strange. I appreciated that they took scenes from the film, but the choreography was really meh. Here's the official trailer for the film:

I can't emphasise how excited I am for this film. It's already won a couple of awards from screenings across different film festivals around the world (including people's choice award and Hollywood cinematography award), and it's a very strong front runner for an Oscar in best motion picture and best actress.

Not surprised, but surprised that Laurie is officially going on the DWTS tour. It starts Dec 16 and ends Feb 14. Girl just needs a nap. I need a nap for her.

I really liked the top 3 and I would have been fine with any of them winning.

I enjoyed Calvin's freestyle the best and I thought Laurie's was very gimmicky

Last night was my first time hearing Jana sing. I don't know if she was off or whatever but it sounded really bad

Laurie got a little mention on Claudia's section on the weekday Strictly programme this week! (Check out her intetesting pronouciation of Laurie haha)

(8.13 onwards)

If you're interested I would also check out Claudia's argentine tango from last week and her salsa from this week! Both amazing dances.

Bruno is in the new season of Fuller House. No comment on the dancing that went on but at least bruno was entertaining.

Looks like Simone Biles is winning...I mean competing on DWTS this season

Dancing With the Stars Season 24 Cast Revealed: Find Out the Celebs and Their Pro Partners | E! News

ETA: Poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor Keo.

They always screw Keo. I hate it.

Obviously excited to see Simone, but really curious to see how Heather does, considering she was a legit dancer for Beyoncé. Clearly that's not ballroom but it should definitely give her an advantage.

A couple seasons ago, Mark Ballas' mom had made a comment about how Keo doesnt keep up with his dance training like all the other dancers do and how "it showed". I certainly cant tell but if thats true then some things start to make sense - like him not getting good partners, him being pulled from the pro position last season, etc.

Not saying this is what happened or if he has or hasnt been keeping up with his trainings. Just information i thought id pass along.

I know Simone expressed interest in partnering with Sasha, but I'm honestly surprised the powers that be let them partner together because she's clearly the ringer and they don't seem to love him/want to give him the winning bonus. He did well last season so maybe he proved himself.

I'd say Heather has just as much of an advantage as Simone does, since neither are ballroom dancers. And honestly Heather might have more of an advantage since she's a legit dancer.

Even if what was said about Keo is true, that poor man. That's an awful partner

I'm sick of them screwing Keo over every season. It's irritating.

I think the final 3 will be Simone, Heather and either Nancy Kerigan, the black athlete (I haven't looked at the list since this morning, can't remember his name) or Normandie

So annoyed about Keo though

I still think Simone will win since America loves her.

I didn't expect anyone to be worse than Charo going in, but Chris needs to go. Oh my goodness. And that's sad because I love Witney's choreography and personality. She's fun to watch. Except last night. That was painful

Simone looked like it was Week 5 already.

Pleasantly surprised with Normani, obviously I figured she could dance, but very graceful. As expected, Heather was great as well; she seemed so elegant. After watching for so many seasons, the teaching methods of the Chmerovskiy brothers are very evident. I guess that's why they've opened so many dance schools lol but they really drill foundations of ballroom before teaching choreo and it shows.

Rashad did great. David Ross was cute. Already drama with Sharna and the cowboy. I overall don't love the guys this season.
