Daughter At Risk Of Being Kicked Off Team

I agree with what has been said. Coming off that team will probably be a good thing, though she may not feel that way at first. If she's bonded with that team, there's no reason why that bond should break just because she's not there anymore. There have been several times I've allowed kids who were previously on a team to accompany us in warmup, stand with me in front of the stage etc. She should ask the coach if this is something they'd be ok with.

I'm in the camp of not being a fan of the younger ones on older teams. And I'm not a fan of having someone for the sake of filling a spot. If she is struggling (whether it is skill or coping with the demands of 2 teams), in the long run she might be better served to stepdown. It might do more harm than good keeping her on.

There are some other vets on here as well. She has years for this sport. If she has truly bonded with the S1 girls they will support and cheer her on with J2. She is 10 she needs nights off to be a kid. I think your very last post really nails it. She may not be happy with you but it is something that is the best for her. May I suggest to make this easier... schedule a school play date or a special dinner with you on that first S1 she misses. Do some little things with her on off nights if she seems to need you to... do not schedule tumble classes or flyer classes during that time she'd be at S1 she needs time away from the gym. She needs this but wants the team... you need to be her grown up that puts her needs ahead of her wants as hard as it can be. You are a good mom for seeing this and realizing that maybe it is time for a change.. you got this.

She needs to stick to ONE team, and master all the skills before moving up. If she's on two teams, then she's spreading herself too thin and won't do well on either one.

Although it is devastating to leave a team, you did say "she has no life and is exhausted," "at the gym every day," etc., it sounds like coming off the team might be the best thing for her to take a day off from cheer, focus on other things in life, and actually enjoy the sport without being so strung out and stressed all of the time!

Best of luck to y'all, and I admire the dedication!

My daughter was on 3 teams last year and a perm fill in on another. She was always exhausted and had no social life. This year she is only on 1 team and really loves it. You don't want your daughter to get burnt out and quit. It is unfair that she was good enough when they got the bid but now she's not. Maybe they have upped the difficulty and that is the problem?

I thought you couldn't compete on more than 3 teams? Were these teams going to different comps?

You can't compete on more than 3 teams, she was on 2 full season and 1 half season team. She would only fill in if she wasn't competing on all 3 teams at a comp. The half season team didn't always go to the same comps the full season teams did

You can never compete half season and full season at the same comp either. Sounds like she was very lucky it all worked out.

What luv2cheer92 said. Only applies if a prep team is involved.

As long as it's a regular all star team it's fine. If it's a prep team (shorter routine, some rule restrictions) than that is not allowed. There are half season regular all star teams.

Yes. I should've been more clear if one team is labeled prep it's a rules violation. I just assumed that's what was meant by half year.
