Tryouts for the 2017-18 University of Kentucky cheerleading squads are taking place this weekend! Thoughts?

From their website:

The University of Kentucky has two cheerleading squads. The Blue squad, composed of eight to ten females and eight to ten males, cheers for football and men’s basketball. The Blue squad also makes regular appearances representing the University at alumni, athletic, charitable and public relations activities. The White squad, also composed of eight to ten females and eight to ten males, cheers for some home football games and women’s basketball. Members from both the Blue and White Squads are eligible and are considered when selecting a squad to represent the University in cheerleading competition. The program also includes two mascots, and two or three individuals wear those suits.

The smaller team is Blue. A incoming freshman who cheered on Stingrays Orange and a incoming freshman from Generals both made Blue!

Blue is hella small, they couldn't even compete at nationals with that few guys.
Must have been a tight tryout, bet they put extra on white to see who steps up and improves to blue over the summer.

Makes sense because White is HUGE.

And traditionally their white squad always has had bigger numbers, but this year's balance is way off haha nothing wrong with self motivation via the coach decision

Any idea if their team sits courtside and/or if the dance team cheers WBB games? There's just no way that many athletes are sitting courtside unless they have some weird set up. I would have loved to only cheer half of the WBB games at my school, so I'm jealous if that's what they're doing.

I'm not sure. I think White does all WBB with some Dance. But I don't know 100%.

We did that at Kansas, split out squads for womens games so we didn't have to do as many. Sorry to all the female bball players, it just isn't as fun in most cases to watch.
