I'm working hard to get caught up (thank you USA VPN so I can watch online). I am loving Todd, though I could do without the girls. But I suppose he needs some backdrop to make the show happen. I'm also glad he's not my coach. But he is just so entertaining to watch

I want to like Todd, I really, really do. He's funny with some great one-liners, though tbh I could care less about the weight loss angle, but it's the scenes with the girl drama that kills him for me. I want to believe a guy his age doesn't actually insert himself into the gossip the way he does and his last scene with Marissa I would hope was staged. I don't know why she has a Mortisha Addams vibe going on, but I do love her skin---her personality needs work. She reminds me of someone who has been treated like a special princess her entire life and doesn't have any concept of empathy. That may be totally off from who she really is, but this show is doing her no favors.

I felt bad for Gabi because she got way too excited to be included in a routine that was described as a novelty dance. The dancing is cool, Todd by himself is cool---everything else is just there.

Mortisha Addams vibe going on OMG! YES and amazing description!

From lightly stalking the girl's instagram, most of the drama is just for entertainment purposes (i.e Gabi and Marissa have photos together all over their instas).

Been told it's scripted. THANK GOD! Because HOW could a "team" with that much back biting win SO many titles? As exaggerated as it is I KNOW this kinda thing DOES really happen at a couple all star gyms I've been at. It's horrible!

I lightly stalked their Twitter last night after watching episode 3. It appears that A LOT of them were on Floyd Central Dazzlers, the HS team Todd coaches. Marissa and Michelle in particular graduated together.
There is also a GBE Lime on the team! Thought that was pretty cool.
We love this show in my house because it's what Phoebe switched to from cheer except add in blinged hats and boots.

Just started watching. Seems pretty par for course from everything I have heard about how the teams operate there so I highly doubt most of this is scripted - they are going to tell you that it is since it gives a bad look.
Part of me is surprised the AD and President of UL was ok with this show, but then I look at how UL athletics have operated over the last few years.
I love Sharp's one liners, and there are some incredibly talented girls. I'll keep the rest of my thoughts to myself.

I wish they would point out that 20 girls do the basketball halftime show, but the others are still performing and doing additional activities. As it stands, it looks like they took twice as many girls as they need for drama purposes-or that they honestly expect half their dance team to be injured.

Can anyone educate me on how NDA works? I kind of assumed that it was like cheer-a single dance by a team in a given category, and I know some of the high schools that train at our gym have separate Pom and hip hop teams.

I love this show, it's a guilty pleasure.

What surprised me was that in the last episode, Todd owned the fact that he put his own feelings above the groups well being. He said that Rose was in the 4th row and she isn't a 4th row dancer. It was clear that it was b/c of the drama with Marissa. I know he has a million titles and they are reigning champs at NDA but if he continues to make placement decisions based on things other than dance ability/performance, he will start to lose those titles.

I feel like they did make that clear. These routines were being practiced for Nationals purpose and that is why they only have 20 per performance.

I enjoy it as well. Todd cracks me up. His ego has served him well in his career. I wonder aside from Marissa if there are any other dancers he has or has had that special relationship with over the years; it certainly organically heightens the drama for tv purposes.

I thought I heard him say that he coached 3 of Marissa's sisters. So it sounds like he has known the family for quite a while.

What's the deal with him and that trainer?
