I didn't even realize this happens anymore, why on earth would you force a kid into the splits instead of just telling them to stretch everyday?!
I found the coach on instagram and he's apparently a gymtyme/Louisville alum (I almost posted his username but didn't know if that was inappropriate). From what I've been hearing from other coaches in the Denver area since the article came out this isn't the first time he's had to leave a school for "breaking" girls.

So terrible.

And @AndyT_T, think of how this affects us and CHSAA training now, ugh gonna be even more intense I bet. He was near me during the Multi Sport Clinic this year.. not sure if he was paying attention though.

I woke up to it being linked to me and got chills. I remember a very similar situation happens to me as a teenager. I was a dancer, not a cheerleader. I am disgusted that this practice is still happening over a decade later. And as someone who has chronic lifelong back and hip pain, the thoughts I have regarding the adults in this situation aren't appropriate for a mix-aged forum.

He apparently "choreographed" at the school I coach at now before I was brought on and I had heard nothing but bad things about him even before this happened. I met him briefly at the Multi Sport Clinic but not enough to be able to speak to his character, but I will say that with how long he's been in the industry and some of the big names he's cheered for I found it very fishy that he doesn't work with any local allstar gyms and that he has had to change schools so frequently.
Having those names behind you opens doors normally, and the fact that so many were closed for him in spite of that raised some red flags in my mind.

I had no idea you were in Colorado now! It's crazy we were both at the clinic and never tan into each other.

This was absolutely crazy... It made me mad. Its one thing to adjust a leg or be sure the technique is correct, but just forcing anyone into a split is downright dangerous.....

I still haven't watched it and I don't know if I ever will. Just seeing the thumbnail was enough to make my stomach turn and my blood boil.
Hopefully this story getting all this attention will stop other coaches from doing the same thing going forward. There is absolutely NO reason to do this to a child.

I definitely feel similarly regarding coaches who jump around cities like that, never with a single gym or program for more than a season. Red flag!

And yea! I thought we might, but then ya know 400 cheer coaches were there and it got a bit loud/chaotic lol. We're going to Mile High and State so we'll cross paths soon!

Of course posting his user name and his real name is appropriate. This isn't a rumor, it's a news story. And he isn't a minor, he's an adult that will need to answer a lot of questions.

Just saw this on Kimberly Archie's twitter.

If he's done this before, then SMH. I wonder why nothing was taped before. Did his reputation scare people out of taking further action?

My favorite tweet about the issue:

How does holding a World Record make any of what he did okay? (I could be misinterpreting her tweet but why bring up his world record?)

And how did the Principal and VP/AD (same person) know about this for MONTHS but do nothing to stop it? Are they crazy?

And how many other programs are being run by coaches like this, who pressure kids to do dangerous things but nobody knows because the athletes are too scared to speak out? Or are being ignored?

For sure!
