Has anyone competed as a rec team for any of the large event producers such as Varsity, Epic, etc.? Did they ask for any documentation regarding your affiliations and whether you cheer for a sport? We are part of a non-profit community gymnastics center. There are no sports within that organization for us to cheer for but we would still like to participate in Varsity and/or Epic comps. Can anyone share their experience?

Thank you!

We never had to, but technically you would be club division not rec. You can also enter as an all star team if you are all music.

I have never heard of a club division before. I'm not sure it is something this area is familiar with. Is it a USASF designation?

Technically, you are not a rec program. You would be an all star program, and would probably do better in the prep division at any Varsity/Epic event.

I'm tardy to the party by a month, but I'm actually a coach for a local rec team. Our girls used to sideline cheer for the Youth Sports organization but we are no longer affiliated. We go to mainly Cheer Ltd. competitions, and they are owned by Varsity. We are allowed to compete as Rec as long as we have a cheer somewhere in the routine and have completed community service hours (and can prove that we have done so). Our understanding was that as long as we are not affiliated with an Allstar gym, fulfill the requirements for the cheer and community service, we can compete rec. This worked perfectly fine last season, so I guess we are doing something right. You should also look into Fever competitions, as they offer a good deal of rec divisions (usually). Hope this helps a little :D
