We tried a few full arounds for the first time today (with the traditional grip) & we're closer than I thought we would be! But I have some questions!!

1. Should my flyer be pointing the toe she spins on? I've seen some that do & some that don't- wondering which is more beneficial.
2. Would you recommend going cupie to cupie, cupie to lib, or lib to lib? We tried cupie to cupie but are having trouble catching it/finding the foot.
3. Wondering if it's hurting my flyer that her arms are at her sides? That's where she felt the most comfortable, but I'm nervous it might bring her down.
4. Any other tips you have!! I know the girls are definitely bending their arms on the catch & that they're too far apart. TIA :)

It's all about the pop at the top... make sure the bases really start in a low set with legs... (meaning locked out shrugged arms but a good squat) pop at that top and then absorb the weight back into a bit of a squat with locked out arms at the end ... it's also MUCH easier to set counts... dip 1, pop 2 hit 3 (top girl will know to freeze and hit at front by 3 as well as main and secondary absorbing by 3....
Hope that helped

I always tell my girls to stay on the ball of their foot and toe slightly, as an athlete I preferred full ups and arounds to one leg just simply because its one less leg to worry about and because catching full ups as a side base is an art form.

Two suggestions - 1: That main base needs to pop and be much more aggressive.
2: I think it is easier for flyers to pull arms up into an "o" to spin so they continue to pull up and they don't drop that shoulder.

Counts help too!

Thanks everyone! I'll use all of your tips and check back in later :) I definitely plan on going cupie to lib or lib to lib :)

it looks like the flyer is spinning good on the ball of her foot, but then settles onto her heels when she gets around. make sure that she doesn't try to settle her weight back once she hits the front.

I think dropping her arms is throwing her off to be honest.

If her arms start in a low-v, she can pull them into her side, and it wont off balance the whole stunt.

But I agree with the above comment - if she insists with starting in a high-v have her clasp her hands over her head. Then she will stay in her 'tube'?

Thanks everyone!! We made a little bit of progress yesterday, but still not hitting. I know we need to have a bigger pop so she can spin faster and the bases can lock out. I feel like the base’s hands are getting super lost up there too.
Seeing how their hands are getting lost I wanted to try to lib to lib, since (from videos I’ve studied) there’s a lot less of a release involved? I’m just worried about the flyer dropping her hip or something.

We’ve probably only worked on these for a collective 10 minutes and these girls are all freshman so I’m super excited about the progress :) your tips are all helping so much! [emoji173]️

I know this is so hard, but the main needs to block out and stay as locked as possible. Have you tried connected to just get more of a feel and some support? I tend to try using bracers to help if needed.. 2 and then 1 and then none :) Nice job and it will happen!!!

Your main is standing... she needs to squat (a lot) then extend to a stand and squat again...otherwise the "pop" is initiating from the arms only...
great spin

the side base is waiting for the foot to fall into her hands, rather than catching it as early as she can and helping to finish the twist. i hope this makes sense lol, tell her to grab the foot as it's coming around and then place it where it needs to be.

It looks like your main base is stepping out as well which is causing the lack of stability at the end. Her arms should be stacked over her body so she is using leg & core strength instead of just shoulder strength to keep it up.
