The ONLY logic/reasoning I see behind this rule is because no-name allstars from a remote land far far away doesn't have the training & coaching to safely execute a twisting basket - and don't pretend you don't know what I am talking about. We have all seen some janky a** basket tosses that are barely caught by the flyers limbs as her head comes inches from the mat at worlds. It happens.
.

True, but there are and will still be enough unsafe baskettosses thrown at comps outside of worlds and also most probably at worlds in divisions like small senior. We all know not every gym going to worlds in a senior division has the most amazing and safe technique you have ever seen. So no problem solved at all in my opinion

So the only level 6 toss they can do is layout?

I am just waiting for the day ca,cea, cali and all big gyms have enough of this $h!t and make their own cheer association with their own comps and worlds.

(something similiar happend in Europe and for last 7 years we have two european championships, a lot of countries have two cheer nationals, from each cheer association)

Preeching to the choir girl - I don't think a problem was solved either.
I think that is the reasoning they will provide us.

Don’t forget about their worlds! Just took place in Tokio last weekend

That makes me sad. As awful as this is, there is so much more to cheer than Worlds.

Just means that NCA will remain the most prestigious comp as it always has...

Yeah he was on the fence about coming back. He came back for one last shot to finally live his dream he has had since he was a kid of medaling at Worlds. I get he could still medal ,but now to him wouldn't feel like a Worlds medal. It's like a summit division that just gets to compete at Worlds.

ill be curious to see if teams pull out of worlds because of the rule changes, and make NCA their final big comp...
and i wouldnt be surprised like someone said above, if athletes start to pull out mid season. I would think a lot of level 6 athletes pay their own way instead of relying on mom and dad. if i was in that position and was a level 6 athlete i wouldnt want to be paying that kind of money to only be able to compete a level 2 routine at whats suppose to be the biggest competition of the year....

For a true International athlete, Worlds is the competition. The other side of the International division issue is being exposed by this. I remember when the division was primarily young adults - college age and maybe even a little older. They would practice 1-2 times a week, compete a few times during the season, and Worlds would be their only travel comp. Now that 12 year olds are eligible, many gyms have structured their international teams to more resemble senior teams, and those younger kids and their parents want all of the same experiences they would get on a senior team. Those college aged athletes are forced to spend more money and more time, and to have such major rule changes mid-season to where they feel like they are competing on a rec team at the competition they value as the most prestigious is justifiably enough for them to say screw it. They can perform more difficult skills in college now, so why bother with all star?

I wouldn't be surprised to see teams pull out either. But do remember that it's *just* baskets. They can still do everything else: stunts, pyramids, tumbling at level 5/6. They can still double down out of stunts, they can still do level appropriate twisting/flipping dismounts/mounts , just not in baskets. Add in doing level appropriate baskets that don't involve twisting and it's far from doing a level 2/3 routine. Yes, elite tumbling isn't going to be rewarded as much, but the skills aren't illegal. I would like to think that doubles/individual passes would be rewarded in overall routine, but maybe not, idk.
(Don't want people to think I'm supporting these rules, because that is faaar from the case, just pointing out that it's not taking away as much as people are thinking)

you are completely missing the tumbling aspect, and for most guys, that is huge.

True. Idk, I don't see some of the top teams watering their tumbling down, at least too much. I would think (hope?) that it would be rewarded in overall routine maybe? Idk how that is gonna work.
Let's just hope this was all some kind of joke that they are trying to play on us. Maybe it will be like when those ridiculous tumbling rules came out several years ago and they reverse at least some of the rules. They can keep the individual pass thing and get rid of the rest haha
