I'm on a posting roll today. Here's my newest question:

I used to think that UCA High School Nationals was a pretty good indicator of the top teams in the nation. I assumed that anyone worth their salt competed there and that it was a safe bet that the final results more or less accurately revealed the best teams in the nation (or at least the east coast). To that end, El Dorado, Greenup, Live Oak, United, etc. always occupied top spot in my mind.

Then on Youtube I found videos from South Carolina competition. And let me tell you, MIND = BLOWN.

Each and every team there was SO GOOD and NOBODY FELL. Yet none of these teams go to UCA for reasons I'm not sure of (expense? school policies?). Therefore, I was completely unaware of them up until recently, and they've made me really reconsider my perspective.

My question is, does anyone know of any other sleeper states offering incredible high school teams that no one even knows about? I love seeing new cheer videos outside of the same ones offered on Varsity.com over and over.

Virginia, Georgia, and Illinois are other states that come to mind that have some amazing high school teams that aren't allowed to compete out of state. Though I think some of these states rules could be changing soon. There's a bunch of videos from schools in these states in the high school videos thread.

So they wouldnt be allowed to compete at US Finals or just at school competitions?

Michigan high school cheer is awesome. Their format is way different than UCA/NCA or anywhere else. No music or dance, so if you're use to that it'll need a bit of time to get use to. But holy moly synchro like crazy. Just so fun to watch.

SC is not allowed to compete in out of state competitions in terms of the SC High School League rules.
