New to Illinois and looking for an All Star cheer gym in Northern Illinois. Everyone I talk to from here says to go to Ice, they just won worlds and all but when I look at the local comp results for their lower program they seem to get beat by Team Illinois a lot. However Team Illinois doesn't have a level 5 team... any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Where in Northern IL and how far are you willing to travel? With the closing of UA,ACE and Supreme Cheer Athletics, it doesn't leave a lot of options if you are in the Northern or NorthWestern Suburbs of Chicago, it is either ICE Barrington which is a fine program or the new Midwest Cheer Elite location in West Dundee, I believe neither of these gyms have level 5 teams, or Twister Elite in Lake Villa(which last year had a level 5 team). In the South and South Western Suburbs you have more choices, Cheer Extreme in Addison, which does have level 5 teams, ICE Aurora which has level 5, in Lockport you have GymTyme IL which has a Level 5 program and Team Illinois in Plainfield which I believe you are correct doesn't have a level 5 program.

If it were my kid and my CP was a worlds or Level 5 athlete I would go to ICE Aurora if they had openings for my CP(I have no idea if that is the case) as both Lady Lightening and Thunder are out of this gym. If not I would be with Cheer Extreme. If level 5 is a future goal you can always try out at a later date and then it would depend more on where you are located and what works best for you as these are all excellent programs, but I would advise going in and visiting the gyms you are interested in to see which one is right for you and your CP.
