Well, let’s flip it around another way.

Where does it start and where does it stop?

Who gets to decide what’s offensive and what’s not?

Where’s the rules of engagement, so to speak?

Another person in the exact same situation may not be offended by the word or phrase which you find offensive.

Where’s the list of words I can no longer use? More importantly, is it still ok to use the “R word” when I’m at work and looking at a patient who has that as a diagnosis on their medical record?

What adjectives are still acceptable? Fat? Calorically sufficient?

How many letters are there now in alternative lifestyles? LGBTQABCDEFHIJKMNOPRSUVWXYZ???

I’m just looking for a general guide because God knows you don’t want to offend ANYONE in today’s world.

Oops, I said “God” I’m sure that offended someone too.
Are you kidding right now? She is talking about how SN athletes get sad when people look at them weirdly and make comments. How is that related to what you said?

I get it. Everybody in 2017 is offended. But here, we are talking about straight up disrespect to kids who are different. We are not talking about culture appropriation or a bad taste Gigi Gorgeous video. It is face to face disrespect. There is a difference.

Would you go to the SN kids' face and ask why they are offended? Why they are sad? Would you say that's because they are soft as a roll of Charmin?

I don’t think the video was worthy enough running over here with it. I think if you’re truly concerned and/or bothered by the girl’s language, then you would care enough to go to Cheer Athletic’s website, find the appropriate email address and express your concern....because if you truly are concerned then your concern should lie in having the language “corrected” at the source.....not another run of the mill Fierceboard public shaming.

I’m also here to point out that she says “special ed.” She very well may be “special ed”. She more than likely (realistically) has teammates with her on whatever team she’s on that are “special ed”. Heck my niece is in honors classes and as of November is also “special ed”..... so yeah I think ole girl needs to not say things like that and be cognizant of the language she uses...and allows to be posted to social media.

But again send Todd, Tom, Doug, Mark....whatever his name is an email and let him handle it if you think it’s something to be handled. You truly didn’t bring it here to have the problem addressed.

Let’s leave “innocent” messy behavior in 2017.

By the way, Russia was just banned from the 2018 Winter Olympics as a punishment for its "state-sponsored doping during the last Winter Games."

That's how you make a point.

sorry to bump this up, because there is no relevance at all, but no its not. USA has a huge steroid and doping problem but they won't take the USA out of the Olympics because of the USA is the top donator. I just did a project on this. The Olympics are crazy.

Who cares?

My heart is bleeding for you. I hope you never encounter something truly harmful in your lifetime. This politically correct bullshit society has softened you like a roll of charmin.

You’re a coach? I’m failing to see any sense of leadership, coaching, or teaching in anything you’ve posted and I’m glad you never coached my daughter.

Coming in very late to this-but this fall a very young flyer from Cali left to be on Beatles. As soon as all of this happened, she was was back home on her original team in time for Cheer Alliance. I’m sure her mother yanked her right out of there but I don’t know why she originally left Cali for Beatles. I don’t even think she was there for a month.

Also, with regards to the incident last year with the two Cali girls, I don’t know why both weren’t kicked off but the flyer is now at Louisville and the other is back home in Canada as far as I know.

No disrespect to you, but this post is almost laughable. All gyms have problems. Some have a very long history of problems that continue to be overlooked and swept under the rug......

Maybe just maybe a little fact check on the Cali / RS situation and you wouldn't be posting to make it sound like all this is connected

I never said it was connected-just that it happened all around the same time. My CP has many friends at Cali Livermore including on Black Ops. I never said A+B=C more like there was "A" situation and "B" situation and maybe that's why "C" happened. If I really wanted to fact check I could-just didn't feel the need to do so-because I was speculating not stating truth. Hey, but if it's that important to you, I will act like a gossip and grill the Ops mom's I know this week-end! :cheering:

I am really late to this, and I am sorry for bringing up an oldish post. I haven't been here on months. Life for our family has been hectic.

Judging by the fact that I just saw on Facebook that the Beatles are up for a fan favorite award for the Majors, I assume nothing meaningful was done and it's business as usual. I'm not surprised.

And in response to the original question, parents, athletes, owners, coaches, and the industry as a whole are all responsible. Anyone who gives this industry money in any way is responsible. As long as winning competitions, having your kid be the best, getting bids, striving for the most fashionable uniforms, and making money reigns over helping young athletes develop character and grow into productive adults, it will be business as usual.

As far as the behavior of the owner/coach, it's not uncommon sadly. Parents are too busy wanting their kid tobe the best that they are willing to overlook things that are incredibly toxic for their kid's development.

And as for the derogatory comments about disabilities, it is sad and ignorant. I hope and pray that the adults in their lives corrected them. But if they don't and nothing changed, it wouldn't shock me. The same people who say this stuff or adults who condone it will then go to post on social media about their faith and how inspiring special needs teams are.

A lot of this is why we retired from this sport and our kids moved on to other things.

I don't disagree with the majority of your post, with this exception. Every single team competing at Majors is up for the fan favorite award. The athlete in question is no longer on the team - there were consequences. What else do you want to happen? Why should the majority of the team be punished for the actions of 1 or 2?
