I wish I could really get into the Winter Olympics like I do for the Summer games but I've always struggled. I think it's because GB don't tend to get lots of medals. I'll try and tune into the skating though, we have a promising speed skater - she had a horrible time at Sochi as she kept getting penalised so I hope she smashes it this time round!

I'm much more excited for the Commonwealth Games and the football World Cup though - I love when there's so much sport happening in a year.

I am so excited! I am obsessed with the Olympics, summer moreso but winter fills the void nicely.

I have a friend who works for NBC cyber intelligence who's there (for 5 weeks!) and some of the pics he's sent are so cool. Cant for it to "officially" start tonight, even if I streamed the opening ceremonies this am at work, it's nice to see it with the broadcast. Watch for team Jamaicas entrance. They seem like a lot of fun.

I got watch the opening ceremonies today because I was home sick. I'm excited for the Winter Olympics to start! I will probably watch what's on when I have time off, I like most winter sports.

And Sweden just took the first Gold pr the Olympics. At least thats what they said om the tv. Of to a great start!

virtue and moir skating to moulin rouge soundtrack gave me all the feels....
I was crying by the end... I couldn’t hold my tears back, especially knowing this Olympics is potentially their swan song. Same with most of Team Canada really, this gold medal was everything to them:

I also really liked Cappellini and Lanotte’s free routine, it felt so honest and was the only other performance tonight that made me tear up.

They make it impossible to believe that they're NOT a couple. Though given what Sale and Pelletier did to my heart when they divorced it's probably for the best that V/M aren't.

I really just want Patrick Chan to stay on his feet. The frustration I have had for years at his triple axle.......

The silver in bialthos was kinda a miracle for us. he is only and a junior still! sebastian Samuelsson is sorta new to all of us in sweden. Biathlon has been kinda a hard place for Sweden the last few years and this just makes me so happy! He has many years ahead of Him. and a fifth and tenth place in womens is also a good result.

UK is performing at the closing ceremony or performing in 2020? (Pardon my stupidity)
I don’t think they’re performing at the closing ceremony? I would imagine that to be insulting to South Korea to have a U.S. cheerleading team perform at the games they’re hosting (especially because U.S.A. is not hosting the next Games either).

They’re only there to provide support to team U.S.A., not sure for which events though. If you’ve seen North Korea’s version of a “cheer team”, I think it’ll be something like that but with chants and maybe some stunts and tumbling.

I don’t think they’ll be there for Tokyo 2020, just the timing of when summer Olympics happens means none of the top college teams would be fully prepared.

Devastated for our speed skater, Elise Christie. At Sochi she either fell or was penalised in all her finals and today she crashed out again. She had posted many OR in the run up to the final and was a definite medal contender. She was in tears. She has two more events so hoping she can use the disappointment as motivation. She's one of Team GB's very few medal hopes so she probably feels a lot of added pressure too.
