UK is performing at the closing ceremony or performing in 2020? (Pardon my stupidity)
Along with providing crowd support, I believe there is also some kind of competition/showcase performance with the other countries teams as well. Not sure when that is though.

I kept reading conflicting information on what's going to happen, but it has been cleared up now. They will, in fact, be having a performance:

ETA: Interesting to note that the Russian flag is used here instead of the Olympic flag.

So USA Cheer keeps changing their story. I still question why Team USA was not chosen to represent USA rather than a college team.

This was cleared up in another forum. The South Korean cheerleading federation chose the teams, not the US. It would also be a bit of a challenge to have Team USA there, considering that many of their athletes are currently training for NCA Nationals.

I don't feel it was cleared up and in fact it seems each post from them muddies the waters even more. Their exact words were they are strictly providing crowd support - yet how is a showcase crowd support? I am also curious as to how the South Korean cheerleading federation was able to "choose" a United States team and how they even knew about a college team to begin with. Since when do other countries choose our teams? I still feel that the athletes on Team USA should have had at least first right of refusal regardless of challenges. They are Team USA after all, and pay to be on the team.

I've been confused about this for awhile but did not want to say anything.

I also wondered if people tried out for Team USA with the understanding that Olympics could/would be part of it?

Because, well it is called Team USA and that would be my assumption?

Additionally what if you are on UK but had no interest in this? Do you have a choice?

Devastated for our speed skater, Elise Christie. At Sochi she either fell or was penalised in all her finals and today she crashed out again. She had posted many OR in the run up to the final and was a definite medal contender. She was in tears. She has two more events so hoping she can use the disappointment as motivation. She's one of Team GB's very few medal hopes so she probably feels a lot of added pressure too.

Just saw that race. Not sure I agree with the officiating in it. The Canadian skater changed her line quite a bit to block her and put some hands on her which disrupted her enough to allow the other skater in causing the crash. I'd have liked to see the Canadian penalized for that. Sad result for Christie.

I conpletely agree. We thought the Canadian would get penalised too! Hoping Christie can use the hurt and frustration as motivation for her other two events, I really want to see her leave with a medal at least.

Wow. I definitely thought she would get DQed both in the SF and final and I would definitely be angrier if I was South Korean but death threats?! Completely out of order and uncalled for. She can't help what the judges decide. I hope she can try and block it out and refocus.

Elise Christie also got death threats from the South Korean fans after Sochi as she took out one of their athletes.

Wow. I def don't think she she should have been given the placement but death threats are just dumb. I'll never understand how people can feel that it's acceptable to threaten harm to an athlete over an event. Hope she can keep it out of her head for the rest of the games.

I watched Shaun White's final run on mute and went under the blanket on every trick. The anxiety was too real. What a great story of perseverance after the Sochi games. He's also only 4 months removed from 62 stitches in his face. Crazy!

I told myself I couldn't watch the last run. So I hid under my blanket and missed the first 2 tricks. Once I heard everyone cheering I started watching and I'm so glad I did. That was amazing!

We were on the actually edge of our seats waiting for the judges to release Shaun's scores. So happy to see his success there.

The media sucks. Shaun White has been one of the best Olympians our country has had, and the guy barely is off the slope before the tools ask him about the lawsuit against him. Of course he isn't going to be able to answer appropriately. I'm so pissed that the media intentionally set about to tarnish his accomplishments.
