Are you on the wagon now, Scotty?
I didn't wanna steal your thunder. But I have been stat recording game day since like 08 when I was a team captain helping my coach record my squad's stuff

:chestbump:

And you are so right, the kids love it. The wife wasn't too keen on stats when I introduced it to her squad in TN a few years back lol. But once she saw that it keeps the kids active and focused, she was all in. We for sure do em at our games currently.

Not stealing my thunder. Before I started doing it, I asked on here if anyone had any experience doing so. I seem to remember getting a response of "crickets." Glad to know I'm not the only whacko on the board. We shall compare notes sometime.

Def! Tracking data across time/other standards is key to understanding how to grow/adapt/improve/etc. I don't get how more people don't do that with various parts of cheer

I'm super interested, would LOVE to see a video as well because your teams seem to be really effective at crowd leading and I think mine would benefit from seeing it in action. I'm going to give keeping stats a try at our game this week.

I think I would have preferred stats to just being told "cheer and chatter or we're running suicides."

Tamara, I’m going to have my assistant send you the form she uses via email. I personally am not a fan of her format, but I’m not the one trying to keep up either.

Here is my version: Cheer-Scorecard-Grading-Football-Scoresheet - Google Docs

'Phog like' bringing some Kansas spirit to the rankings. 'Gardella Proud' - Gardella is the AD so we added some admin reference there for motivation to impress.

it def reminds you of the job you have to do in the moment a lot more!

I use a piece of paper and hash marks. Lol I’m very high tech!

In essence, that’s all ours is. I use Teamsnap to communicate with my team, though; and it’s got a function that allows for tracking such things. I have a couple of kids who check on themselves after every game.

I downloaded teamsnap to try and track jumps. Is there a way to track from the app or do I have to use the website every time to enter after the game?

I told my kids they were going to have to condition for every girl that didn't complete their mandatory 3 jumps a quarter. I have 14 girls. They were so scared of having to condition AGAIN that i had 369 jumps last night alone. I'm really impressed by that.

You have to go on the website to enter. You can technically do it from the browser on your phone, but I find the small type to be difficult to maneuver on my phone. So, I take the tally sheet my assistant tracks on, and I’ve got it down to a science. The entry is very easy after the game.

Could I suggest putting a more positive spin on it? Count several statistics and start awarding a cheerleader of the week based on stats and coach decision.

You’ll have some that want to blow up their numbers. My one girl who started over 1200 chants last year has a target on her back. She graduated and a couple of this years kids are after her record.

We are back at it again.

First football game last night. Our team ahead with a Running clock starting midway through the 3rd quarter.

47 more chants than last years opening game (same opponent, same running clock)

111 more jumps

13 more tumbling skills.

4 administrators praising our efforts to keep the girls entertaining until the very end.

ETA: I think it’s important to note it was an away game with a pretty abysmal crowd. Our first home game is in 3 weeks. I can’t wait to see how that works out.
I'm chuckling because this reads like the script for a Mastercard commercial.
