We are looking to get white uniforms next season, but I have some major concerns.

Does anyone have motionflex uniforms in mainly white with either blue or red accents? We would have white body with blue accents, and I'm scared they'll look bad after washing and the blue will bleed or fade the white. I'm also scared for the girls that are a bit bigger, and for the inevitable time of the month issue... Basically, I've avoided white uniforms like the plague but we've done blue a million times and now recently have black. Wanting something fresh and new next year.

I'm not totally sold on Varsity, so really anyone with motion flex uniforms or even dry tech or something from another company, I'd love to hear your input.

I had a white Varsity MotionFLEX uniform for my competition team for the past three years and there've been very few issues. I know you mentioned not being sold on Varsity, but I would assume other brands would behave similarly. The skirts were white with build in red spandex, which did NOT show through. Colors didn't bleed on any uniforms except one, which was because the girl washed it incorrectly. As long as they follow the instructions washing it'll be fine. I did always keep a Tide pen and Shout wipes on me though and it was a life saver for the inevitable coffee spills and lipstick smears. Haven't had a stain we couldn't get out in the time we've had them, though.

I have had issues with girls getting periods unexpectedly, but since the build in spandex were red, it wasn't an issue for us. May not be the case with blue. Never had a girl bleed through onto their skirt, though, even if many of them panicked and thought it would happen.

I have Rebel uniforms this year and the spandex material is a little different, but since it's black I don't have any insight on how their white materials would work out. Hopefully I was at least a little bit helpful though!

<-- White motion flex uniform with black and blue accents.

This was college, so maybe our team members were slightly more responsible with their uniforms (or maybe not), but we never had any issues. There was definitely no color bleeding. In regards to "that time of the month," our built-in bloomers were blue and boy-cut, so it wasn't much of an issue.

If you want more pictures, I can dig some up and send them along.

ETA: One thing I would avoid is white armpit panels. We had white sleeveless unis at one point and the armpits tended to yellow. Try to do a colored pit panel if you can.

We had white varsity motionflex (I think it was motionflex) for allstar last year. Overall they washed well. My biggest issues were pit stains - they would not come out no matter what I used and it was noticeable in pictures. Please consider that because it really bothered my daughter and she was self conscious about it - and she pretty much only had to wear it around her peers who "got it". The general high school public will not be as kind. @retiredl5cheer looks like they did the black accents to cover the underarm so that could work, but if the uniforms are for game day I'd pick a different color.

We have a white motionflex vsf uniform currently. Seen here at the beginning of this video:

I would say this uniform is probably 4-5 years old at most. From afar it looks solid still, fits most girls (thank you local tailor) well, and doesn't have any bleed from the purple accents. The skirts have built in purple spanks, so all our girls wear purple nike pros under em too to maximize coverage for themselves.

Up close though, you can tell the motionflex is older and beginning to permanently stretch and wrinkle. Right now we wear that white one for comp only so we don't really use it for events/games much.

This white/grey one is powerfit. I don't like the cuts... or the lettering... but ya take what you got at a public school. This one has no built in liner so we use purple and white at various times:

We plan to add a couple unis at the end of this season. Both in powerfit, one of which probably being white, as the powerfit has a more durable flex feel to it.

What is the difference between Powerflex and Motionflex? I'm clearly Varsity stupid as I haven't used them in years.

Powerfit is a stretchy, lighter, more comfortable poly blend. Looks like the classic old polyester unis of yesteryear, while having the flex and comfort of a motionflex/spandex based fabric.

Interesting - I know nothing about uniforms but I think that must be what my CP's college team just got. It looks really nice on the girls uniforms and it is comfortable and they wash very well - CP had black all over the white portion of the skirt and it came out with just a regular wash cycle and no extra stain treatment. The guys pants felt really heavy and more similar to actual polyester which on a 100+ degree sunny day isn't what I'd want to be wearing but they looked great on the field. I was really surprised at the difference between the guys pants and the girls uniform - felt like completely different material (maybe it was). I think my younger CP all star uniform was the motionflex which in comparison feels thinner and I don't think wears as well so especially for high school I would go with the Powerfit.

sounds like a powerfit uni. especially if its post-2014 and varsity.

here is the promo video they made when i worked there when Powerfit was released. It gives some info, but i always thought it wasn't explained well enough to get more coaches on board with it because it is pretty legit

My younger CP all star uniform was first purchased for the 2016/2017 season and there is a definite difference in material compared to the oldest CP new college uniform. Now I'm curious - has the material been upgraded since 2016 or are some uniforms made with better product than others?

hmmm i am not certain. that is interesting in the differences.

We have white powerfit unis with black and gold accents. We have never had a problem with fading. We wear black bloomers under them, and they do not show through. If you fit them right they can look good one everyone. they just need to fit a tiny bit looser than a colored uni. My daughter is not tiny (36 top and 12 skirt) and hers looks nice. I did have to let her shell out a little.

We went completely to powerfit this year. It cost them about $12 more per uniform piece, but was so worth it. The girls are much more comfortable, and i think it gives a sleeker look.

Honestly, I don't like motion flex for cheer. I just think it doesn't hold up as well as powerfit. I would spend the extra money to get powerfit.

If something is listed as motion flex in the Varsity catalog can it be done in power fit for an extra cost?

I’ve done white uniforms the past 3 years to no problems! This year we got powerfit material but also have a motionflex full liner for a second top and it’s washing up fun. Our accent colors are black and gold and I’ve had no bleeding from the black onto the uniform.
