Nike Sidelines are what both teams have been using. They’re good for cheer but the dancers aren’t really loving them. So I’m looking for a white cheer/dance shoe with a split sole that’s NOT a traditional jazz shoe (so no Capezio, etc.).

I’ve heard good things about the Kaepa Touchups, the Puma Soleils, and the white Bloch dance sneaker (which, despite being promoted as dance shoes, are apparently good for sidelines according to Amazon, but who knows).

Also has anyone tried the new Ascends?

If anyone has experience with these or has another suggestion for dance team shoes that have turn-friendly split soles and can hack it on all surfaces, I’d love to hear it. Thanks.

We had the Kaepas a few years ago. They look really unattractive on the foot. The area where they arch is didn’t fit closely and almost bulged out from the foot.

I would look at the Varsity shoes too. We have had several pairs that have held up well. The Nikes tend to be heavy.

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward the Kaepas but will now reconsider.

Our dancers wear regular shoes (I think Nike this year) for sideline and change to actual dance shoes for half time.

I've used Nike sidelines and Kaepas and hated both. The Nikes felt bulky and heavy, and the Kaepas were straight up ugly.
In college, I used a pair of Asics (I believe they are discontinued now) for sideline til my senior year, where we switched to Nike running shoes. We always switched shoes at halftime.

I guess it depends on what kind of squad you are. Doing pom in running shoes is the new thing. I've also recently done a pom routine in Nfinity Flytes and liked them. I would definitely check out Varsity if you're looking for a lightweight dedicated dance shoe.

Also, windex works surprisingly well to get grass stains out of tan leather jazz shoes.
