what do you do if you know another gym has an athlete who is aged out on a younger team
If you have proof, as in hard evidence (an actual copy of a birth certificate etc), then by all means turn the information into your owner. They are the ones who would have to turn them in. If you don't have actual proof, then sit down. I can't tell you how many times I've had to defend myself and kids on my team because they looked too old. It's exhausting.

There is a little girl who cheers with my goddaughter. She is taller than quite a few adults and towers over most of her teammates (6th grade cheer team) at like 5'6 and almost 12 years old. Her mom was telling me that when she played travel basketball in 5th, other teams would always INSIST that they were cheating/playing an 8th or 9th grader on their team illegally. Nope. In 5th. Just tall.

I would just be wary of making such an accusation unless you either have seen the birth cert or were there spectating when the child emerged from his/her mother.

I agree with some of the other posters that often an athlete seems older/younger/whatever but vast majority of the time are correct age. That said, curious how you know the child is older for sure? Sometimes your cheer age is different from your actual age so keep that in mind too...

I agree with this as well. CP is on a youth team and her cheer age is 11. But she will be 12 for the majority of her competitions because her birthday is in January. Same with one of her friends who turns 12 during the season. On the other end my 5 year old CP is tiny and looks a lot younger then 5. When she is with kids her age she looks a lot younger then she is. There was also a girl at the gym that looked way older then she was. I remember being surprised when I found out her actual age because she looked like the high school kids but was 11 or 12 at the time (it doesn’t throw me any more when I see her cause now she is actually in high school)

I’m curious how this would work. I’m thinking of the possible scenarios and I’m not sure how you could “prove” the age violation. Not saying it couldn’t happen but it seems difficult to prove.

Aren’t rosters verified against proof of birth supplied to usasf? So either the proof of birth that usasf approved is wrong and you are able to prove its incorrect or they switched a kid out for another kid. So Susie Smith is pretending to be rostered Sally Jones. Again how do you prove that there is no photo id required with rosters?

There was a gym localish to us that got caught several years ago doing something with their rosters and the ages. I can't remember if they submitted Susie Jones' birth certificate and then had Sally Smith compete or what. But they got in some trouble for it.

If you know that the kids age is incorrect for her team then I would send an email to USASF stating the kids name, team they are competing on and gym information. USASF will check the roster. If her name is on the roster with an approved birth certificate, then they will dismiss your claim. If you have reason to suspect that the birth certificate has been altered, or that the child is competing under a different person name, then give them that info. At that point, it's out of your hands.

OP says they know, so I doubt it's just a case of "hey this kid looks the wrong age"
