Didn’t someone post Summit 2018 scores somewhere? Winning Summit teams, what score range. Our team just received a bid on Monday night however our scores IMO are not high enough for us to be competitive their, our routine has consistently only score in the 96 range.

I feel like most winners HAVE TO BE in the high 97 or 98s.

Yes I wish I could see the number scores somewhere... I know a team that placed 4th and their score was 97.7. I just hate to invest so much money to go only to know that our teams score isn’t high enough to do well.

I'm not sure how to even process the various arguments I could have with this thread. (only going if you think you are going to win, comparing January scores to May, etc.). However, if you go to the twitter account of @billpresson around Summit time, he posted scores I believe.

Not saying that I only want to go to win, let me rephrase that to it is a lot of money to spend to go with a Wildcard bid if we probably not even make it to prelims or finals. I would prefer to spend the money going to like a US Gold bid and be competitive. I also know throughout a season that scores and difficulty improves but it you have a 96 at say Jamfest is it likely by May you have a 98- 99?

There is no way for me to answer that with any accuracy - even if I was willing to. If you have concerns about your team, speak to your coaches and/or gym owner.

I feel like there is a BIG SUMMIT spreadsheet to go with the Worlds one. Hold pls.
I have one, though looking at it I don't think I ever fully updated it for 2018. My 2018 spreadsheet is also only like halfway done. Pretty much just placements, only some scores. I've been slacking haha

As a parent, I understand. Am I willing to take my kid out of school again, and fly to FL just for "the experience" when I know my kids team doesn't have a chance of advancing? To put it in perspective: a year of AS cheer for CP including tuition, comp fees, music, choreo etc costs me about 3k. Everything I've heard leads me to believe that attending Summit/D2 will cost about 1k a person. And my kid is not traveling without me. When you look at those numbers, is it worth it for 1 comp?

That said, I think that gym owners should lay it all out at try-outs. Tell parents that if teams get a bid, they are going. And families can make a decision as to whether they want to be part of the team or not. I know parents at other gyms whose kids got bids and they are now scrambling to raise the money to attend.

Summit/D2 is no longer an exclusive event. I know teams that have bids who consistently score in the 95's.

Yeah. I've heard of gyms at tryouts explicitly stating that (example) "Y3 if we field it again this season will go for a Summir bid and is a Summit team." That way you know that if you don't want to bid chase, you need to shoot for J3 or another appropriate team. There is also the practice of building and holding tryouts specifically for Summit as well, which has its benefits especially in terms of only drawing in kids and parents who are interested in the bid chase/experience.

Or have parents discuss and vote after tryouts on:

*Will we seeking Summit bids?
*Will we only go on Paid bids?
*Or are we going to accept Wild Cards or At Larges?

Of course I'd imagine that that puts you in a weird spot if you are one of few parents not interested and you get outvoted by the "Omg yes we want to go to Summit even if we get an At Large" crowd.

One thing I want is costs laid out up front.

Eg:Athletic Championships-2 night hotel minimum, $254 night, $35 2 day spectator fee, $20 competition gift

UCA Intl-2 night hotel minimum, $200 night, bus fee $50, athlete commuter fee $319, spectator fee $40 unless purchasing Disney ticket bundle, estimated airfare $500/person. $100 competition gift

If a paid Summit bid costs me $3000 and an At Large $4000 and a Wild Card $4500, I want to know that before I make a decision as to whether my child can participate in a team going for summit.

Funny the D2 results have scores but not the D1 Summit.
Wonder if that massive screw up in JR5 has anything to do with that?
