Do you think it's the fact that it's a two day competition for all levels this year that's making the times so loony? I know when CP went the previous two years it was a two day comp for only level 5 I think, the other levels only competed one of the two days. Only a handful of teams from her gym are going this year, thankfully hers isn't one of them since it looks like her division is going on stupidly early.

I have heard the ticket line is insane (about a 1 hour wait on a frozen boardwalk). And that parents are missing their kids performances due to the ticket line being so long. If that is the case, then Epic Brands and Var$ity should be ashamed of themselves. Its obvious this comp is overcrowded with teams for a venue this size.

Frozen is an understatement. At times, ticket lines were more than an hour long. Imagine being there in the predawn when it was dark and way below freezing at that time. It’s a balmy 30 degrees right now. People were literally fighting in the line. People did miss their child’s performances. And the tickets were 39$ for a 2 day pass. They have signs saying no re-entry but I cannot imagine that will be honored.

They only had 3 ticket booths open. There are hundreds of teams here. I don’t know how they thought they could handle that volume of ticket sales with 3 people.

People who waited in that line for an hour in the cold who missed their child’s performance were not able to buy a one day ticket to use tomorrow. They were told to come back and wait in line again. Most people bought 2 day tickets so the line should not be as long. They also ran out of 1 day wristbands so that could explain why.

Every parent from our gym that I have spoken to has said that they will give feedback that they do not want to return to this event.

That is awful. I feel so bad for any parent that pays the money to try and see their kid perform and can't because of flat out incompetence on the part of Epic (Var$ity) and the venue staff. Hopefully tomorrow will run smoother.

If u stood in line and missed your child compete the least they could do is sell a 2 day for a one day price so U wouldn’t have to stand in line tomorrow.

Agree. Funny thing is that there is a competition in Baltimore this weekend also and while they don’t have paid summit bids they do have at larges that might even go unused. The event is that small this year. Go figure.

Where are these comps that have unused Summit bids? Every comp we go to, hundreds of teams are competing for the few that are available!

I have never seen so many teams have athletes vomit on the floor during a routine. Or run off the floor and vomit into trash cans next to the floor. I am not talking about 1 or 2, there were many. I can't figure it out. The teams were from different states, they were staying at different hotels. I know its February and I guess it's flu season but this was bizarre.

My kids said that they heard there was something wrong with the water. I walked passed it and it had a weird smell.

This event was not well organized. From the before 7am warm-up mat times to the venue not being prepared to have parents show up at 615am to purchase tickets those were just a few issues. Oh and yes the ticket purchase area was not treated and we had to hold each other to prevent slipping and sliding on the ice/snow while standing in the very long lines. I can definitely see how parents missed their kids performance.

Yes, lots of vomit and delays for cleaning the mats. I recall seeing the same team having athletes vomit on both days. It was the most bizarre thing I've seen.

I was there in the morning so I don't know if it was any less in the afternoon or eventing. But I imagine that those 430 am wake up calls for hair and makeup didn't help anyone that was feeling even slightly bad.

This relates to one of my complaints about the comp. It started too early and ended too late. It was overbooked.

I agree with you!

It reminds me of how much Battle at the Capitol grew and from one year to the next. The parking lots this weekend were full which I’ve never seen at this comp. I would be more than happy to skip this one next year. The number of summit bids was only a bit more than Baltimore. I saw many divisions with only one team per division in Baltimore where there were no world’s bids. Instead there were divisions of 12 in AC. As mentioned by others the convention center in A.C. is much better suited for this event as they can fit three performance floors.

The one compliment I want to give to this comp is that the sound system was superior to any other comps we've been to. This is the only video I have where you can actually hear the words on the voiceovers. All other comps it sounds like a jumbly mess.

Funny! That was my athlete’s biggest complaint. She said that the sound on the mat was horrible. They could barely hear the music both nights.
I think that the speakers were angled for the fans and not the athletes.

I have always enjoyed BAB, so I was hoping that we wouldn’t see a lot of graphing pains as they grew to a two day for all event. We didn’t get caught in the ticket chaos but instead cp competed after 9 pm both nights and awards were at 10:30. I fully understand that someone has to be in the late group, BUT I feel tHat the event could have done better at breaking down times in the block schedule ahead of time. Telling us that she could compete from 7am- 1O pm is bogus. They could have respected us by breaking that down to a smaller time frame, allowing us to book sat- mon instead of fri- sun , and also to figure out missed school days easier. This was local-ish for most families, but that changes when you aren’t even leaving awards until 11. I know some of our parents would have driven home last weekend on Sunday, if they knew ahead of time that this Sunday was going to be super late.

I thought the jackets looked pretty, even though I only saw them from afar lol.
