Our gym is going to Summit for the first time. Looking for someone (or a few people!) who have been to help us answer some questions.
The biggest question in the gym right now is: To stay on property or not.
Coaches have allowed athletes families to decided where they want to stay.
Some are wondering if off property, although might be cheaper, is worth it. Thoughts?
Anyone know how much parking costs at WWOS?
If teams are practicing at All Start Sports, are non-guests even allowed to park there? Cost?
(Athletes would have a commuter pass, but my experience with Disney is that if you are not a guest at that hotel, you cannot park there)
If staying on property, favourite All Star Resort to stay at??
Has anyone extended their varsity package for 2 additional nights prior to May 2? (We will be arriving April 30)

Would love to hear what some of your experiences have been like.

Thank You!!

Staying on property is convenient but off is usually cheaper and if you give yourself PLENTY of time for traffic, you will be ok. Our old gym liked the team to all stay together on property due to ensuring no one was late because of traffic. Parking at WWOS is free but you can pay for some preferred parking which is limited. The link for that is not up yet. Guests can come to the all star resorts and can park. I've never had a problem. As for which resort to stay at on property, I cant advise, all stars ones are smallllllll rooms. I've heard the other Disney resorts have larger rooms.....
Bottom line my kid stayed at all star, I've stayed off property 3 times. Once in a hotel, once in a rented house with other families (cheapest and best option), and once with a friend (free lol). Either way, make plenty of time for traffic. Plenty.

Just a general Disney thing as someone who vacations there:

You are now working on Disney time.

ADD A MINIMUM OF 2 HOURS TO EVERY SINGLE THING YOU NEED TO DO.

Everything takes at least that long.

Example: If y'all are done practicing at 5 and you want to do team dinner that first night, plan to make reservations for at least 7. Not 6. Heck maybe even 7:30.

It is free in some lots to park ....last year the main lot was charging $20? I personally love to rent houses for World/summit! Cook your own meals and just more comfortable!

Will the link be posted through Varsity? Thanks

$20 parking at Wild World of Sports?
I'm assuming your rent something fairly close...how long would it typically take you to get to WWOS?

Yes!! lol
I have Disney experience, and know this to be true!! Just have limited cheer experience (my daughters first year) and it's the gyms first time to Summit, so I'm just trying to figure out how it is all going to mesh together!

There is multiple lots around the main one that r free to park. We usually do Champions Gate community....20 minutes away?

Things change every year - we have always been able to park at WWOS and the hotels with no cost and no issues, but I had heard that Disney was going to start charging if you weren't staying there, so I'm not sure what the deal is this year. I've never been to Summit but for Worlds my husband and I much prefer to stay off site and my kids much prefer to stay on-site. Off site is much cheaper and more comfortable. There are so many time share resorts within a few miles of WWOS and the parks and you can get 2-3 bedroom condos for cheaper than the Disney hotels (I recommend Orange Lake; I stayed at Westgate once and didn't care for it at all). We seldom have traffic issues but Summit is far more crowded than Worlds. Many people go earlier - I believe you are able to pick up your passes any time during the week of Worlds and Summit (and several days prior to Worlds as well). Lines can be ridiculous so the earlier you can get them the better! We've stayed at All Star Sports and Music and they are both "fine". Not fancy but adequate as a hotel room.

You can pick up your passes if you gym allows you to register as an individual. Our first year, we had to wait for the gym owner to arrive and get our passes for us because she wanted everyone registered together. So we were there two days without passes. Ended up going to the beach one of those days. Check with your gym on how they register your kid.

Thank you for this information! We had our team meeting on Tuesday night and the team was asking our coach to register everyone. I could tell the coach was not loving that idea, and as soon as I mentioned what you posted, they changed their tune, LOL. She thanked me later for the information, so thank YOU for this.

My experience from Worlds: The convenience of staying at All Star is nice (shuttle busses leaving frequently)... cheerleaders everywhere. But with convenience you pay.

If this is your first Disney cheer experience I would definitely recommend staying on property because the atmosphere is truly unique and something the kids will remember for a long time. It will also give you a better understanding how things are run- should you attend future events. There is a learning curve to these competitions - and with that you have to figure out what works best for you.

Have fun! Don't take any of it for granted (even when you're lined up in the hot Florida sun, trying to cram into an over-packed venue). It is a unique experience that you fortunately will get to experience with your kids & team.
