Hi everyone,

Relatively new to fierce board lol. Have watched threads for a while but have yet to make an account until now. Recently my teenager has been interested in applying to become a Rebel Model for when the next search arises. Does anyone have any experience they could possibly contribute to this or applying to rep GK Elite?

I’m worried as to that there’s possibly a scam aspect of it. She loves Rebel’s apparel and has a few of their pricey outfits but on IG we constantly see the models having loads of the clothes at home. It makes me worry that we’d be locked into a contract of buying $100 bras multiple times a month lol. It doesn’t look to me that they get any kind of perks besides the Rebel model status. . Hearing stories about how they can earn model gear (like jackets or the Rebel model bras and pants) but you have to pay for it? From the research we’ve been doing it appears that Rebel is the more coveted company to rep (we think there are more GK models but that could just be our imagination) due to the follower counts and such but it looks like GK spoils their girls more with uniform shoots and things like that? She’s of senior team age, we aren’t a Rebel gym (though we might move to a big gym next year), not on a Worlds team (yet) and we don’t live near Texas if that helps. Has a decent IG following and I don’t mind having a few shoots throughout the year with local photographers but can’t drop everything to travel to a last minute shoot. Also while she loves the bling of their outfits she understands they aren’t always practical for every practiced (and our gym has uniform days) so I wouldn’t want or need to have a $10,000 closet worth of their gear. If you have ANY experience working with these (or other companies like Varsity, Cheerlyfe or Crazypants) it would be GREATLY appreciated!

I cant say exactly how rebel does it. It SEEMS like they pick a lot of kids to rep them in various ways/levels. I think only a select amount get to do shoots and some lucky few go on a shoot overseas with rebel, but it's a small percentage of the amount of kids they pick overall. I dont think you would have a contract to force you to buy things but they would probably give you discounts on their stuff (and you may feel like you have to purchase but I really dont think it is a contracted thing). Thats just my opinion.

At our gym, the kids have assigned practice wear for practices so some may not even have a chance to wear extra stuff unless you have privates or tumbling classes. So buying stuff wouldn't work for us anyway. My kiddo did Varsity one season. They really only pick a small amount of kids. They didn't do all those levels of just having kids rep them only on the kids' own social media. All the ones Varsity picked did attend at least one photo shoot. Some of the kids did more than one. The kids got some free stuff to wear and shoes and bags, got flown to the shoot, hotel stay, and got a small stipend for their work modeling.

I dont know if the Rebel social media models and reps get any freebies or not. Hopefully some rebel parents can answer that for you. Anything I posted about Rebel is only my opinion and needs to be verified;)

Thank you! Hoping to find some rebel model parents on the boards lol. We’re looking into Varsity as well so your insight was definitely helpful! :)
