Yes. Used to hate having to travel to Disney twice, a month apart for UCA and Worlds. Now with Summit so big there are a lot more people who probably feel that way too. Just too expensive to go twice.
But with Dallas so high $ to just compete and having to do STP its almost the same cost for kids hopper and much more reasonable cost of a house rental....could be very similar. I know a lot of us long time cheer moms don’t get hopper passes when going to FL.

I think the main reason we do UCA is because it jut happens to be the weekend before Spring Break for most of our athletes, so they can take an extra day or two and use their park hopper (or even just fly back Monday) and not miss school. Summit is often right around finals, so it ends up being “fly in, compete, fly out, and study on the plane” for our older kids.

Yiiiikes... NO large senior teams are competing, and only ONE medium senior and medium coed team each competing (and both teams have already earned a full-paid bid earlier in the season). Not sure what’s the point of even competing in this case.

One word. Tragic.
Senior Elite is now going. Why they would add a big travel comp like that last minute when they have no competition and already have a paid bid is beyond me.

Initially I figured majority would already be there with Crush/C4 but just realized only CEA Raleigh and Lady Lux were going. Odd.

I assume they'll rent a house or two to stay in and charter a bus down there, but who adds UCA barely a week beforehand? Maybe they had roster changes and need a new bid and see the chance of paid bid would be high (though could do that at NCA this weekend)? Or maybe they won Cheersport and reallllllly care about "winning" the triple crown (even if they'd win by default as the only large senior)? Hell, I could see Big V offering a kick back to get them down there to film for ESPN to show large senior on the network and hype up the triple crown.

Someone posted that they were trying for the triple crown since they won cheersport. Not sure if that’s true or not.

Regarding the triple crown that’s if they win NCA will that really be an accomplishment, when one win was by default? It’s unfortunate that all three competitions were a week apart.

So if they dont win NCA are they gonna just not go then lol. That would be more than a little ridiculous imo if that was the reason.

(Not directed at you, I know you said you weren't sure)

Yes, I agree on the expense of Dallas. In our case, we had to go to Dallas too. Probably made me hate spending the money even more....

The triple crown also has the points system, so even if they don't win NCA they'll "win" triple crown by default. UCA's expenses aren't worth the free backpack, so I hope that's not the actual driving force behind that decision. Or if it is and I were a SE parent I'd be pissed.

Triple Crown Champion and Triple Crown Point Race winner are not the same thing...

For the former, you must place first at all three.

These competitions being so close together seem so out of whack for me. Usually you get some breathing room between the Triple Crown competitions, but not this year.

I feel like it’s the 3rd season in a row now that these three championships are back-to-back weekends. It definitely was last year.

I’m sure everyone shares the same sentiment though, it was more manageable when there were two weeks in between each championships.

I always think about SCHOOL when comps are back to back like that.

Putting on my educator hat - I know not everyone agrees but I'd be concerned re: a child missing school that many times (if you're the type to get in on Thursday or Friday and leave Tues.)

It's fine if kids are informing teachers to get things done ahead of time, possibly getting extensions, etc. It tends to not affect certain students as much because they're generally organized and okay with doing things early, doing work on the plane, etc. However, there are some whose grades may suffer. Ex: I have some students who travel often for things like dance, take AP classes, and maintain a 4.0. Then there are others who have similarly packed schedules who are barely hanging on academically (ex: student traveling for soccer often whose mom admitted that he will probably need to repeat Algebra 1 in Summer.)
