Do you guys have one? How do you do it? Currently I’m struggling to guesstimate how many counts of eight it’ll take to get five rows of girls to center field (from the end zone) so they’re standing on the 30-40-50-40-30 yard lines. Thanks.

Not something we do, or anything I’ve ever seen done. Would be interested to see. We go through a dynamic warm up and then stunt and tumble for funsies. Nothing overtly organized. I prefer spontaneity.

I’ve found a few cute things watching YouTube and Varsity. I just want a routine that’s simple, big, and fun for the girls to do. Basically something to slap them awake before the game because most of them just slog through sidelines until it’s halftime.

Are you allowed on the field pregame?

Between the football players warm ups, the marching band performance, and running the boys out, we don't have any time in there that we can get on the field to do a routine.

We’ve got a chunk of time in there we can use. We’re consolidating cheer and dance into one routine which I’m really looking forward to choreographing (one of my HS dance coaches was a Raiderette, so giant crowd-friendly rolloffs, level changes, and kick lines are my jam).

I choreographed exactly ONE joint pep rally performance for Homecoming that included Dance, JV, and Varsity cheer. Never again after that. Too many folks! (Think something like 60.) I had to get up in the band stand with a bullhorn/megaphone mic. Hot outside. Incoming freshmen on JV goofing. Complaining of heat. Shout out to all the band directors, majorette directors, dance directors who do a lot of outdoor field line type choreo. Not my thing.

I’ve accepted that. I’ve got my bullhorn on special order. I know it’ll be a long day of choreography but I’m hoping that putting the seniors in the front line will set the tone. They don’t kid around when their skills are literally front and center for their friends (and enemies) to judge.
