But I don’t think it’s likely :(

I was hoping they’d really tear out of the gate this season after taking second last year. I know when we get second at something, winning the next year is all I can think about (especially if I feel it was undeserved). It completely refocuses me inward and usually works toward our success, but it makes for an EXHAUSTING year wherein my family, friends, and coworkers are like, “Can you just stop?”

Anyway, I was hoping to see that fire in them but I guess not :(

Who do you think will win? It’s almost that time.

I think it's not the first time for them to have rough season. It happened to them and they somehow managed to globe at that time. We are talking about Stars here and there's still more than enough time for them to get their act together before Worlds.

Worlds is always full of surprise. We have seen some unexpected champions who were struggling before the Worlds and everyone seemed doubftul of them. Once again, anything could happen at Worlds and I think it's too early to exclude Stars out of the competition.

They finished first the year before last. Back to back for that division is very tough, so going 1-2 was still very impressive.

Yes, it has been a rough season for them, but they’ve had a big turn over of girls the last two seasons (it was an older team in 2017) and it takes some time to settle in. I wouldn’t count them out yet either, Worlds brings out the best in most teams.

How many times have we seen teams:

*Be virtually unstoppable all season then have mistakes at Worlds they haven't had all year?

*Not win any major comps all year and knock Worlds out of the park?

When that finals Monday rolls around it no longer matters who was #1 at Majors in Jan, who crumbled at NCA, or any other result on any other weekend before that.

It doesn't even matter what happened the DAY before. Clean slate.

You can never count anyone out. It's anybody's ring.

All these things are true, but it’s the fact that they scrapped their old routine and started over halfway through the season that works against them. Overall, I think it was a good decision. It’s a better routine and they seem to like it more. But the fact remains that by the time Worlds rolls around, they’ll only have practiced that routine for about half as long as everyone else. But who knows? Maybe they’ll surprise us. From what I gather, everyone thinks it’s going to Rays or SE this year. Which I mean, yeah I guess. But I’m not especially enamoured with either routine.

ETA: PLUS we all know it’s a confidence booster to go into your last major comp with a string of first places backing you up when you get there. No, they don’t reallt matter at that point. But it creates a superior sense of confidence (in my experience). Although to be fair, nobody has really had a clean sweep this year so maybe that particular advantage isn’t a factor at this point.

I love WCSS more than most people, but the comments on both ends either guaranteeing one team will win over the others or that one team is doomed to last place are absurd. They're all incredibly talented and very evenly matched. All they have to do is hit.

Not a Worlds team but my CP's team redid their routine almost entirely before Cheersport. It was the best thing they could have done. The way they hit it on day 2 at our last comp makes me wish we had like so many more comps. We don't. We have Summit though. I feel their chances are just as good as anyone else's at this point. I wouldn't say having more time on a routine is always necessary. If it's a routine that can hit and the team feels good doing it, that can make all the difference.

Personally im guessing panthers or orange if they hit both days or dont have any major deductions on either day one or two.

I remember after Majors Cheerupdates posted a blog with scores from the Majors practice difficulty evaluations.

The one thing that stood out to me is that yes some were a few 10ths of a point off from a 5 in some categories but they were all very much in the same difficulty neighborhood (there were some 4.8 and 4.9 in some areas but it all evens out.)

Yes, WCSS has a newer routine. I get it. But I would not count them out by any means.

You also can't predict how the chips will fall with every other team or what kind of day they will have.

All things going perfectly and everyone hitting? I may say Orange or Panthers but you certainly can't count out F5 or SE as they have hit clean a time or two and won this season. WCSS if they come out and hit clean has a shot as well.

We shall see.

I don't think changing their routine midseason works against them at Worlds. Neither does being an underdog. It could go the opposite way and help them to fly under the radar a bit. It's normal for teams to change parts of their routine throughout the season anyway. Never count out any of the big 5 in Large Senior, they are all good and have both good and bad days. In a division where everyone is putting up 9 stunts and taking necessary risks, big mistakes will happen and that is okay. I don't see WCSS winning this year, but they can contend for top 3.

Also, not winning Worlds isn't the end of the world. Only one team can win. And every team deserves time to adjust to a lot of new girls and rebuild. I have no idea how old the girls are on WCSS, but when I watch them, they look young to me, at least younger than in the past. They may need time to gel.

Anything can happen when worlds rolls around. The Slip and Slide year very few on the boards had F5 taking the Gold (myself included). They were the only team to hit on the day and won it. Other sports can have this as well. I’m a hockey fan and very few of us (myself included) would have predicted the Washington Capitals to get the Stanley Cup. Ovechkin, Kuzy, Backstrom and all the other caps proved everyone wrong. The Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2018, no one had them favoured to win, but they did. It all comes down to what happens on the day/moment it counts. It’s anyones to lose at this point.

Me too!!!!!

Wait, you are talking World Cup and not my daughter's XSmall, Elite Cheer Stars....ok. Yes, them too!

(I kid, I kid... I love World Cup and wish them nothing but the best. It's funny that everyone else in the cheer worlds Stars in WC Shooting Stars except here in the Midwest where its the homegrown kids.)

Well... on the other hand, I loved EC Star's when they competed in the medium division a couple years ago.
