If UCA loves our sweet sweet comp fees, they could work around this. Otherwise they’ll lose Granite Hills, ELDO, Mater Dei, Oak Ridge, La Serna, Losal, Centennial, Santa Margarita, Buchanan, Heritage, plus all the ones I can’t think of.

They’re working on a solution, I believe but I am also an advocate for being proactive about that solution and being involved in helping to come to an arrangement that doesn’t leave everyone scrambling for new divisions or waiting until all hours to film a potential semi/finals performance

May not be popular and kinda screws CA out of the division, but move GameDay to Sunday... then it takes them out of that unfortunately but it does allow flexibility for the traditional routines....

I see pros and cons but it is definitely something to look into and I hope they look into this and other suggestions!
Thanks, yes... we have a few options... another, possibly moving JV to Sunday or Super etc. it’s much easier to go down in numbers than have to add.
P.S. if anyone has any suggestions, let us know- we would love to get perspective!

DON’T TAKE SUPER! Take Game Day if anything. It’s not really that big out here. More of a southern thing I’ve gathered.

Yeah I agree with you. If UCA could move the traditional comp days to Friday-Saturday that'd be perfect. We'll just have to see what happens. Though some Cali teams recently won gameday.

Also, I don’t suppose it’s possible to hold the event Thursday-Saturday? Which means kids take off school Wednesday-Friday. Everyone goes home Sunday.

I also don’t suppose you could move JV to another weekend? Or just remove JV entirely. Might cut down on numbers and make it feasible to have all V teams compete Friday-Saturday.

Whatever UCA decides to do if anything they need to decide it sooner than later because If we have to compete Friday/Saturday instead of sat/sun that means we need to change some travel arrangements, gym rental days and bus rentals. I hope it works out for all involved :)

Yeah but in my experience, it’s nobody’s bread and butter out here. We just don't have the football culture. It's not like in some parts of the south where HS games are treated like college sporting events. They're just social events more than anything out here so most teams I know of just do sidelines and halftimes and leave it at that. There are no long and involved time out/kickoff routines. There's no demand for it. So taking GD away wouldn't be the end of the world... not for CA or anyone. It might be different if teams went to UCA ONLY to compete in GD, but I don't think that's the case.

I've been saying this for a while, but instead of splitting cheer and pom into two weekends, split based on school size instead. Have DI on one weekend and DII the second, and put UCA/UDA together. UCA could be Friday/Saturday, UDA could be Saturday/Sunday (from my understanding pom is still not considered a sport so they can compete Sundays, which is why USA changed pom finals to be Sunday and cheer finals to be Saturday). This would also allow pom and cheer teams from the same school to travel together if they wanted to, which would be a nice added bonus.

It would definitely have kinks, but it also has potential if executed well.
