All-Star Canadian Team "robbed" At Worlds - Thoughts?

I am DYING of secondhand embarrassment. this is the worst mess I’ve ever seen. There’s an ACTUAL tie in small coed and nothing happens. Yet they “create” a tie in large open coed? I’m happy for nfinity. But they don’t get that moment. 2nd place doesn’t get that moment. 3rd place doesn’t get that moment. OO5 must feel this is unfair as well (since they had a higher score). bsb likely feels this is unfair as well.

so nfinity needs to send all their stuff back and gold get, outlaws need to send all their stuff back and get silver, and then they’re gonna send stuff to pct?

This is actual insanity.

I love 005 but why should they think it’s unfair? It doesn’t matter if they scored higher in finals...they shouldn’t have advanced to finals to begin with.

Because they scored higher... they are pure class so I’m sure they’re super happy for nfinity but I think I’d think that way. and completely false about them not being in finals. according to their coach they were given the wrong basket score (which is based on how many baskets you throw, not competitive) and judges admitted that. it’s technically USA starz that shouldn’t have made it because of OO5 would have gotten the correct score there wouldn’t have been a tie.

How is a 4.8 in difficulty and a 5.0 in execution for 6 switch kick doubles being underscored? That is what they scored according to the breakdown in semis

Cheer Scoring IASF Worlds

I didn't see 005, so I can't speak to what score they should have gotten, however, I don't see where specific tosses automatically get a set score.

Everything in iasf is comparative, and there's no such thing as "x amount of skills gets you in x range". As per iasf scoring "3-5 points: difficult skills are performed".

“Given what took place, we believe Top Gun and the other U.S. team should be co-champions, Australia should be getting silver, and we should have our bronze,” said Vonlanthen.

As much as I do feel sorry for them, and I do believe if the circumstances were different they would’ve medalled, but what they’ve said above wouldn’t make the situation better nor would it reflect on IASF any better.

It just wouldn’t make sense for Nfinity and OO5 to tie when OO5 had the higher score during finals. Even if USASF and IASF have different policies, it would be a serious middle finger to BA Senior Black who actually tied with PA Midnight.
Update:
The middle finger has been served to BA Senior Black.

IASF could’ve read my post before they made this decision; disappointed.

Making it through having to go through everything again and then hitting that routine would be hard to say co champs if the score wasn’t there.

Not apart of that team or program but if I didn’t deserve to make it through, I would be a little upset if after so many people complained you waited til the next Friday to make it right. It would def suck to make it through, compete, win, then get told “welllll actually”

However I am happy it was made right, just putting it out from the other side as to why they have a right to be upset.

Also no matter what, nfinity really doesn’t get that moment which really is heartbreaking for them.

I just hope everyone knows no matter what none of these teams are in fault, they showed up and competed like everyone else.

Because 005 was supposed to be in finals. They were incorrectly scored on their baskets in semi's and with the additional points, they would have no longed tied with USA.

I didn't see 005 or the other teams in their division, so I have no idea if the score they got was "accurate" or not. However, the IASF scoring doesn't work that way. There is no set score for a particular amount of baskets. 2018-19 IASF Levels 1-6 Cheer Scoring

They were not incorrectly scored. There's no such thing as a guaranteed scored for iasf, it's all comparative to what others do. They scored a 4.8 difficulty and 5.0 execution. "3-5 points: difficult skills performed", they were on the high end of that.

This is what I get for listening to a combination or FB/Twitter...thank you for explaining that to me.

If 005 should have never been in finals then their Gold should have retroactively been taken away. This may sound harsh, but you can not want Olympic level recognition and not do what the Olympics would have likely done. While the red flag, at 005 going through, was originally raised on the board and social media in near real-time...I am quite confident coaches likely brought it up at the event in real time too. For it to go long enough for Canada to be able to consult lawyers for any change/ruling to happen just shows exactly what level of poopshow World's is in the scoring/legality department.

And fwiw, I would say the same about the other 'bronze' champion issues. If a team was awarded a medal their team didn't actually earn, it should be taken back and given where it should have gone. This co-champion ideal should never be accepted at a World's level competition.

My point is they were let through due to the tie. At some point the tie should have been broken due to the rule regardless if they had already competed in finals. Something should have been said.
Especially if the whole small coed and international 3rd place thing had already occurred. Dont know if it did by the time 005 competed..?

I also think its unfair to strip a team of bronze who have never placed in worlds(?) but then not strip a team of gold who should have not made finals...

I think its usasf saving face at this point..
